$1200 is the top price I'd pay for this camera. It MUST be cheaper than EOS 10D, and 10D can be easily purchased for $1350 these days.

The 10D was never on my list of SLR's in the first place. And $1300.00 is
better than spending $1500.00 and paying for two lenses I do not want!

This is GREAT news...

But the relevant comparison is what the 10D goes for at the same retailer. Canoga and most of the other reputable web dealers are selling the Canon 10D for around $1500. So $1350 at these same shops for the SD10 does not seem unreasonable at all. And you'll probably be able to get the SD10 for less than that -- maybe even at your $1200 price -- from whichever dealers are selling the 10D for $1350.

David,

I agree that is how you get the business. They also took the time to write
me back and confirm that they will be selling the body only. And I think the
price is right.. Sure $1200.00 would be better but I am not waiting untill
prices fall. I am going to try and haggle with them when I phone my order
in, perhaps I can get them to knock 10% off? If they do then I will just
turn around and spend the difference with them anyway!

He means the pixels in the pixeltank, which is in every digital camera. Or where do you think, are the pixels coming from, which appears on your screen?

Sigma has an exclusive deal with the biggest Taiwanese pixel manufacterer. The pixels for the SD10 are all handsorted. This means less noise, longer exposure and higher Iso range. So I am sorry for all Canonites, no chance to get the same high quality pixels :-)

Thomas
And do they have the better pixel upgrade in the 10D yet?
What?

Hmm... Costs a little more than I'd have liked, without lenses that is. Not too bad though.

Now, the question is, will they sell a one-lens kit, or will they sell the digital lenses outside of the kit?

In many situations 10D will take a better, higher resolution picture than SD10/9. The problem is, it's pretty mediocre in definition in red and blue channel when luminance fluctuations are small. This is not something you run into every day though. Fall foliage, some macro shots and that's about it. Let's not forget that 10D gives you better tones for skin, grass and skies. It also has better autofocus (faulty samples aside), long exposures and ISO performance. It's better built, has the best array of lenses in the world and doesn't have as much of a dust problem as Sigma. It has much better resale value.

So I do think Sigma should be cheaper than 10D, especially considering that only Sigma makes SA mount lenses.

I agree, it has to be closer in price to the 300D. they are selling beyond imagination. For w while it was impossible to find a 10d because canonon couldn't supply the demand for the 300d it is so hot - running a price to compete with the 10d is stupid at best. I do think though they should be a tudd more expenssive than the 300d just to say we are better...
