It's always my dream to catch the dripping and splashing moment...well, with 5700, it seems just as easy as anything else...

Hope my daughter won't tell any difference in her milk tomorrow morning...

That is great coolness!

And I like number 3 as well. Although I'm a sloppy person, I love the symmetry :)

I've seen similar here done with water, but milk must be even more difficult...all that white! Can you give any tips on your set-up? This is something I'm planning to try on some rainy or snowy day soon!

Location: kitchen
Time: 11:40 pm
Manual exposure mode
Shutter speed: 1/4000
Aperture: F/6.6
External flash: SB-30
Matrix metering

The difficult part was focus, the pure white milk makes both auto and manual focus impossible. What I did was to pour the milk almost to the rim of the bowl, then place a piece of thin paper with text on top of the bowl, and manually focus on the text. For black and white print, the manual focus is easy and accurate.

Then just snap on...I had to hold dropper in one hand and use the other one to snap the picture. Since the camera didn't have to adjust focus, the shutter lag was pretty much fixed. So after a few practice, I masterred the rhythm, snap...drip...snap...drip, and only thing to control was to make sure the drip was falling into the center of view. In the last pic, I had to hold both the dropper and SB-30 (its compact size really helps) in one hand in order to get overhead lighting.

Very quickly I found I had taken over 50 images. And the real fun part is to look at those pictures, almost every pic has differernt formation than the others. I couldn't imagine I would afford to do this little fun project with any film media...digital rules. I will try condensed orange juice next time to see how yellow comes out.

Thank you for reading...

Hi Sapro,

Neat pics - and isn't that 1/4000 fun? It's pretty amazing for those liquid shots. This is treading on the commerical side a little bit!

I tried a couple here on the 5400. Who says a sink full of dirty glasses is a bad thing? :-)

Great shots. I've been thinking about doing that for some time now, but have put it off, because I tend to get carried away with things like that, and I know I'd have milk all over everything.

How about chocolate milk?
