Hi guys, so I have been shooting 3 days in a row with my M10-P, and I found this shutter issue once a day for the past 3 days.

So basically, I had Live View on, and when I pressed the shutter release, it couldn't go down all the way, like not a full stroke, but only halfway, and of course, the photo wasn't taken. It didn't occur at the start of the camera, nor in hibernation mode or burst shots.

Again, it only happened once a day, usually I would suspect it's the shutter that got damaged, but logically, wouldn't this issue be way more often and easy to reproduce if that is the case? Or could it be some systematic or cache bug, where the camera think it's not ready to fire the shutter? Or, just a broken SD card causing trouble? Has anyone experienced same issue? Any thoughts?

Aloha, I would do a reset, recharge the battery & use another SD card. Then Reset your settings. Also make sure your lens contacts are clean..Not knowing where you are located, I would contact the Leica Customer Service (relevant to your location) and see what they have to say or suggest.. L

Thanks, I would do all that. I'm in China and I have contacted Lecia Shanghai, and they claimed that if it is shutter damage, it should be more frequent.

It may well be an intermittent/heat electrical issue.. L

If you understand everything, you must be misinformed...

Does that mean I need to send it in? Or I can just ignore it?

I would imagine that eventually it will need to be serviced.. use it over the holidays and have it serviced in the new year, if it’s under warranty, talk to the vendor. L

Hi, I think I have a similar issue with my 10-R. I wrote already something about it in this forum. Every, say 100 to 200 pictures I might have one or more occasions that I push the shutterbutton and nothing really happens;

A bit irritating.

I contacted Leica and my intention was to go over there. They wrote to me that it was probably a firmware issue that was going to be fixed.... Over the phone they suggested that they would exchange my shutter realease system.

Haven't found the time to go to Wetzlar yet.

I am not sure if we talk about the same problem, hope this is helpful.

When that happens to you, do you also feel you couldn't press the shutterbutton all the way? Or you feel just like usual, except no photo is taken?

Leica's response seems strange, they suggested both software and hardware issue at the same time.

I had the impression I could push the shutter all the way. I hope to get some pictures in the coming days and will report again. I have to decide wether it is worthwhile to make the trip to Wetzlar. Regards

Thank you very much, looking forward to it.

I am a 10-R owner as well and have experienced this exact same thing. Since I live in the US and just got my camera back in July, I can't imagine parting with it for who knows how long. Please keep us posted!
