I'm trying to do the software update on my lens but what type of USB cable should I use ?

Everyone and their uncle on Youtube says use micro USB. Today I went out and purchased 2 micro USB cables from different stores and both seem a bit too small to enter the connection on the lens.

In the tiny booklet that came with the lens there is no mentioning of what type of USB cable to use.

Can anyone out there help ?

indeed, it does look like micro USB type B... iirc, there are two or three different "USB micro" ports--which one did you get? have a pic?

you're not showing what's on the computer, but if the "bigger" end of the cable fits, then you have USB type A on the computer. you would need a male-male type A to type C cable... or an A-A cable with an A-C adapter... or a C-C cable with a C-A adapter :)

Some microUSB cables can be used only for charging. Check if your cable can also transfer data.

There is only one common “micro” designated USB “B” (device end) standard. It is officially named “USB micro-B.” It is what the OP illustrated in a later post.

You may be thinking of USB mini-B, which has a completely different end. Or USC-C, which is the flattened oval that can be inserted either way “up” in a receptacle. This is also the first USB standard I know of that allows a cable that is the same on both ends.

Whoever told you to use micro usb is wrong. Z mount are shipping only with type c port. So, please buy a type c cable before you damage your lens’s port.

Off topic, were you able to do the firmware upgrade and does it pay off?
