The smallest, many features packed Camera with good image quality & built-in flash. Limited grip area to hold on to. Limited set of control buttons and dials, but get the job done. Used it mainly in Av mode with Auto-ISO. Good travel combo with Pan 35-100 OIS lens. Good street combo with Pan 20mm f1.7. Hard to read screen in bright environment. Visible mid-ISO noise. Sold it to get more pixels.

:(

Mind, mine would sell for more than I paid for it.

Hope you like its replacement better.

Thats a good sign no? I tried it before the price was too high :)
Good for both of us. I love mine (it's orange). Cost me £250 as an open box kit with the 12-32, plus £10 for the real leather original case.

Wish I'd bought several of the GM5 at £325 for new kits, when they were on clearance at CostCo.

Orange is a nice one. Initially I sought the gm5 bt could not find one on German craigslist. After months of waiting a black gm1 with two lenses appeared for a good deal and I tried it. I liked the compactness and even used the oly f8 pancacke lenscap. Fun thing.

Are you happy with the limited megapixels? No IBIS?

I saw one in a thrift store for $175. Black. Body with battery and charger only. Mint in box. Is it a good deal? Want to covert it to IR. Thinking of picking it up. Should I?

As long as you have some protection against getting a dud, I'd say Buy It.

To help your comfort level, check eBay's prices for "sold items" for the GM5. I haven't looked lately, but I'll be surprised if they're not well above $175. When I saw one on FM for $300 - with a few extras - I pounced on it.

If its mint than the price sounds fair. I sold my gm1 in a box the 12-32 kit lens for 190 EUR in August.

Obviously IBIS is not on board. The smallest cam with IBIS I can recall right now is the 28mm RIcoh GR III. My thoughts regarding megapixels is that higher values (same sensor size) are more important in the longer run than ultra compactness now.

Good luck with operating the hot mirror out of the body!

I've been tempted by the GM5, but I keep passing up sales on Ebay. I'm just concerned the EVF would be too awful (I hated the Oly VF2 EVF accessory, used it one day then never again). From my understanding, the EVF in the GM5 is at least as bad (and tiny). You sacrifice the in-board flash for it and gain a bit of bulk compared to the GM1.

And so I fall back on the GM1. :)

If it works - buy it! That's a smokin' deal. Surprised you didn't buy it already.

Peace.
