Are you a Sony/Canon/Nikon/Fuji/Pans/Oly User?

But apparently, unbeknownst, I do identify as a Fuji user, despite actually owning and using several brands of cameras
You're right -- I identify myself as a Pentaxian, even though I use several brands of film cameras and my digital camera is a Sony.

Pentax is my first and favorite, and my preferred camera for 35mm film -- though that's not entirely the case, as I use Ricoh K-mount bodies with my Pentax lenses as often as actual Pentax bodies.

Or it might just be that I like saying "Pentaxian". Maybe I'd like my Nikons better if I could call myself a Nikonian. I could be considered Mamiyan, and I'm sometimes a Minoltist, but I don't own the equipment to be Canonical or an Olympian.

I am a Whatever-it-says-on-my-DPR-gear-list User.

No loyalty, me (except to humans and to non-human animals in my care).

I self identify as a Leica user …

trapped in a CaNiFuji body. It’s complicated.

If I would use more than a brand, I would say I am a camera user.

Back to my early 35 years camera using, except my first camera, I used Nikon film slrs only as well as Nikkor lenses, so I described myself a Nikon user.

In last 17 years digital camera life, from earliest compacts/superzoom to mirrorless later, I use Panasonic only and so have no problem to introduce myself a Panasonic user.

What is the problem with that?

When we are in the same discussion, if you know I am not a Fuji user, you know something about your specific system I might not understand or certain different on style or logic of operation etc for a smoother discussion.

When I was young I used Canon's as they were cheaper than Nikons. Started with a film A1 and eventually the 5D. As I got older I switched to a Nikon D5600 as it was lighter then ended up switching to the Sony A6400 as it was even lighter. Now I own 2 A6400's and a few lenses.

I'm def a Sony user... I enjoy the baggage of the brand :-D

In some unrelated online discussion I noticed myself self-identifying as "a Fuji user". Which is funny, because I am not generally attached to brands much. I don't identify as "a PC user", nor "a Bullitt rider" (a type of cargo bike). Not even a Ford driver.

But apparently, unbeknownst, I do identify as a Fuji user, despite actually owning and using several brands of cameras that are at least as important to my photography as the Fuji. Isn't it strange how we sometimes attach our identity to some brand, but not to others?

Are you "a {brandname} user" of a camera brand? Or do you merely "use brandname"? Is that healthy? Or sane?
Yes. m4/3

I'm a Fuji shooter these days because that is all I have these days. I no longer provide paid photography services so I sold all my Canon kit.

I shoot for pleasure and enjoyment these days.

For years I was a "Nikon Girl." When I went mirrorless, though, I made the switch to Sony and now the household is all-Sony. So, yep, I'm Sony all the way.....

I have since 1981 variously used Canon, Minolta, Pentax, Nikon, Ricoh and Fuji.

I don't tend to use two systems side by side for very long. I might have two cameras but I prefer to have lenses and batteries that work in both of them.

So, at any one time I am a Nikon/Canon/Fuji etc user.

Right now, I am a Fuji user, and likely to remain so. They are sufficiently distinct from the mainstream to appeal to me, and have a very adequate lens and body range that suits my needs perfectly.

But that's not to say I don't find other brands appealing for some of their other attributes. If I was a wildlife, sports or event photographer, I would likely be using something else.

I have all three brands of camera.

More than a couple of Sony, only one Canon, and one Nikon currently. At one time I had two Canon' FF bodies and two Nikon FF bodies. But now down to one each.

Three Sony full frame and one APSC body.

If you are a serious snapper then you identify by the images you take. I identify as a dull but technically competent documentary photographer. If you identify by camera brand you are someone who plays with cameras. A bit TiC, but not totally.

That's an interesting way to look at photographic identity.
Actually it is a generous self description! I'd love to take more interesting photos, to do something original. But I know I won't. Competent documentary snapping is my limit!

I have had Canon for 35 of 38 years of photography and I still have one Nikon lens that I bought about 15 years ago. I've had Nikon DSLRs and many Nikon lenses. That pretty much makes me a Canon guy first then a Nikon guy. I've had one Sony camera, but will likely never go back, so not a Sony guy.

That does not include 6x6 or 4x5. I definitely developed a respect for German lenses and I even own one lens made in China.

So while I will buy whatever will serve my needs, I am a Canon and Nikon guy!

What are you if you refer to yourself as a Nikon Ambassador like Joe McNally? Are you saying he just plays with cameras?

Unapologetic Canon user. We like what we like. If it's one brand, that's fine. If it's 6 brands, that's fine as well.

I'm a CANON user and have been for 55 years or more!

I think each of the camera companies has, to some extent, their individual perceived image - whether accurate and deserved or not.

That's probably the reason why they tend to attract their respective devotees...
