Hello everyone,

Hope you are well.

I took this portrait of Swarna recently while doing a shoot for her clothing line. The light was good, and I think it came out decent. Sharing here to see what you guys think.

Taken with Fuji GFX 100S + Fuji GF110mm F2 R LM WR

Enjoy and have a great day.

Nice but I would like less pp on the face. You can easily see the difference between the face and the arms.

The face didn't have facial hair, and the arms have hair, that might make it seem like the face had a lot of PP.

Thank you, appreciate the feedback :)

Your portraiture is great and thanks for sharing. The mood, color and DOF is great. Like your other models, you bring out her beauty.

Really like the gray chair, green pattern and maroon. Question: why did choose the maroon head dress area by forehead as focus point? If you have another shot, how did your final compare with a shot with eyes in sharpest focus at the same f stop.

Thanks.

My fleeting first impression was that she had a bandage on her pinkie finger, but it turned out to be the pattern on her dress. Now I can't get it out of my mind. But I admire your portraiture nonetheless.

Maybe, it was just my opinion. It is a very nice shot and everyone does things differently. I personally do very little pp (as I never learnt it to begin with).

Manzur is one of my models (as in a level to attain). 👍 (maybe he can model too 🤔)

Beautiful lady and nice photo. But personally I don’t understand chopping the top of her head off. If I were to do that I’d use a longer lens and crop out the legs below the left hand. My eyes are drawn away from her beautiful face to that big up front blur of legs.

You are very kind with your words. Have a great day Sylvian 🥰

You'll need an ultra wide angle lens to fit me in frame 😂

Thank you very much. This is what I like, different people with varied opinions. We all have our choices, and it brings out different images.

I tried cropping as you said, but then the photo looks a bit odd, and the leading lines (curves) ending abruptly. The frame that I kept seems to be a good frame from my perspective.

And the head cropping is just a style of shooting, many does it and it looks good (to me).

Have a great day :)

It’s very common in tight shots; less so from the distance of that shot. I think it works because it’s not something you see every day.

I am with you. I would not be able to crop her head and her left arm as I feel something is missing. But that's just my opinion!

When I shoot models, I typically use both 63 and 110. Both are great lenses.

I think that photo might have been great using a 63 mm and getting a bit closer to the model.

Cheers,

Max

I know that tampering with someone's photos is a taboo no-no and I deeply apologize for overstepping my bounds here... but the only way I know to express what I want to say is to show it. And this is only my opinion and I know I'm just an amateur hack. But this is what I want to see when I look at his photo. This is where my eyes go.

Nicely explained Jim, thank you :)

Thank you Max. Yes, I use both those lenses too, but recently been thinking about replacing it with the 80mm.

I try not to get too close to the subject, I think it relaxes them a little, a camera very close to them is a "nervous" item, as many have said.

This almost works for me, with a slight adjustment of bringing her face more in the middle and the hand close to the left edge. Looks a little odd as her whole right side is chopped off.

Thank you for showing this, much appreciated.
