Is the sale on the a7riii at $1999 in the USA a good deal? I ask because that's the same price it was last year at holiday time. It is an old camera and the new a7iv at $2500 is very tempting. Please give me your thoughts.
 
It's a good deal on a good camera, and $1000 cheaper than an A7Riv.

I just sold an A7Riv in great condition for $2450 on Ebay. That's a better deal, in my opinion, if you're shooting landscapes or wildlife.

For birds, though, I might go with the A7iv due to bird eye AF.

I'd get the IV personally. My pennies.

The R3 is old tech now. Still a very good camera but you'll enjoy the snappier focusing, improved ergonomics, better more intuitive menus and faster shooting of the newer model.

It’s a very good camera.

if you can find a way to qualify for an edu discount and get an B&H credit card you can get one for $1,720 and no tax. The a7r4 is around $2600 right now
 
I've done a lot of reading and video watching.

I have an a7R III. I'm am foregoing the IV for either version V OR an a9 III.
