Hello,

I don't know much about this standard lens.

Is it a M42 lens??? Are there (cheap) adapters for it to mount on Canon R, or on m4/3?
And is it worth it, is this lens sharp(isch) af f/2?
I saw some examples on flickr with a strange curly bokeh, quite interesting ...

Thank you!

Jozef.

If you want the special Petri Orikkor 50mm f/2 Kuribayashi C.C. 7 elements in 4 groups it has m42 mount and has become very expensive.

There is a newer version with a similar name with Petri bayonet mount that they used for a while with simpler design.

Then the last Petri cameras moved back to m42.

Petri had pretty good reputation during film time.

I have 55mm 1.8 ( with TTL body ) , it has M42 mount.

I Haven't touched it for ~ 25 years.

You can get M42 adapters to about anything.

I have M42 to PK ( Pentax ) , to E ( Sony ) , to X ( Fuji ) and Z ( Nikon).

Enjoy it.

https://spiral-m42.blogspot.com/2017/05/petri-camera-co-high-speed-petri-part-3.html

shows the odd optical design and the special bokeh it creates. That one has an M42 mount.

BTW, 10 blades iris too.

The only Petri lens I have is one refitted from a Petri 7 compact camera, a Petri 45mm 1.8 that has an 8 blades iris. Petri never was shy to add more blades than other Japanese compact camera manufacturers. Usually 5 or 6 blades in that category.

Met vriendelijke groet, Ernst

Petri is actually a very interesting firm. They used to make their own lenses and had great potential, I believe. Some time later they must have taken a few wrong turns, that led to giving up.

I've written an article about two "brothers" a while back, maybe it interests you:

About Petri lenses

Also I had a great japanese resource with excellent information about Petri. I will try to find the link and post it here, if you're interested.

Regards, Rolf

Ok, would be great, thanks.

I found it, here it is, unless you know japanese, you'd have to have it translated:

Here are some rare Petri lens diagrams.

I see including the Petri 7 45mm 1.7 lens diagram. Thank you. The 40mm 1.7 is probably also one of a Petri compact camera.

These and much more can be found under the link I provided in the last post.
That's probably the source of the drawings.
Here is the page if others are interested

Yes I have the 40mm lens removed and a complete Petri Computor II with that lens.
I will try to adapt it at some point.

Thank you for all the info!

But there are several types, I believe ... I can borrow this lens from my brother, he got his Petri SLR camera + 50 mm lens about in mid seventees ...

It is this lens:
https://www.apertureinfo.com/item/petri_50mm_f2.html

I'm a bit confused now.

Jozef.
Just in case it wasn't clear, if your lens is one from a GX Petri, as commented by Heritage Cameras (the link does not work for me) it has really nothing to do with Petri, it is just a re-branding of the most re-badged camera ever . Cosina made that camera for many, many brands, Petri was just another one.

So no, that lens is not the one you are probably thinking of.

BTW, it's a Pentax PK mount.

Thank you, I'll check it out, I think the camera and lens is like this last photo. So, the lens is maybe not a M42 mount... ?

Jozef

If it is from a GX it is a Cosina PK mount lens . (PK as in Pentak bayonet).
