The purpose was a couple of errands that became possible with some easing of the Covid-19 Lockdown. Also, Sandra and I could go to the top deck on the ferry again.

Making sure I got the name of the ship -

This one has been sitting there for days -

With the errands done, we still had half the day left -

The sun shone on the ferry building on the way home -

I got a better perspective on the PORT VILA CHIEF here -

I dread the day when my SH-1 stops working. It can come along on trips when photography is NOT the priority.

This is a nice set of photos. The light was good, you have a good eye, and the camera is clearly capable.

I was wondering, since you own both the SH-1 and the SH-50, whether you could explain the difference, since the specs look pretty similar.

I have been offered a very good deal on a mint used SH-50 and I was wondering if, as the earlier release, it lags behind the SH-1 in some ways.

I am looking for, as you put it, a camera for "trips when photography is NOT the priority". (And something with much longer reach than my phone.)

The SH-50 has a hand strap and the physical layout is different from the SH-1, which has a shoulder strap. Here are some quick snaps of the cat (because he was there) -

Operationally both are the same. Both have HD1080p video with 5-axis stabilisation.

Liking the SH-50 a lot, I bought the SH-1 as an insurance against loss of the SH-50.

After 4 months not using the SH-50, the battery now shows nearly empty.

This is the last picture taken in July, out of the camera -

Same picture, slightly cropped, shadows darkened, WB correction on clouds -

Your mileage may vary.

Thanks - that's just what I needed to know. I have a line on a very lightly used SH-50 at a fraction of the prices that I am seeing for the SH-1, and if it's only cosmetic differences I'm sure I'll go for the SH-50.

For reasons that are too interesting to go into here, it'll be a while before I get it, but I'll post some pics when the day comes.

BTW, I love the cat pictures. He looks like a cat with attitude, which is my kind of cat.

Glad to help. Thanks for liking our cat!

Here is Auckland on the SH-1 this morning -
