What do you think its about 1 month until the 828 is released will it be a hit or a dud? Or maybe no better then a 7x7

I have a photographic memory, but I always seem to have the lens cap on.

Life is just a stage and we all have enough pictures to proof it!

I've been asking myself that exact question. I've done nothing but read up on the Canon 300D and Sony F828 for the last couple of weeks.

As a few people point out once you use the swivel lens of the Sony you like it. Also the move to USB 2.0 and support for Compact Flash definately interests me. The only limiting factor which I've yet to pursue is whether the 200mm len can be extended using a multiplier lens.

The final problem is I want one now and can't wait until it's release.

Cheers,

Wayne Johnston

I expect it will be the most popular F-series to date. It doesn't need to "defeat" the Rebel (if that's what you mean). There is plenty of room for both.

Too bad. I really like everything in this camera, but I fear that the image quality will not be good enough. Maybe even worse than 717.

It will be a catastrophe for Sony, after which it will leave a market of high-end digicams and focus it’s efforts on something like V1 and T1

That it will be a hit.

Just about every camera that is released comes out to cries of "NOISE!!" and "No good" before it is released. Unfortunately some cameras with admirable qualities get so-so ratings in the on release review simply because the quirks havent been worked out yet or the first firmware update resolves a the major issue. These tend to get overlooked because the original review doesnt end up being updated or the public closes its mind to the possibility of it being a good image making machine

It invariably takes people time to work out the quirks of each model of camera and each ends up with a loyal following.

Once some spectacular shots are posted, I think that the "dissapointing" comments will vanish and we will see messages posted like "this is a great camera"

This is the one that'll make me upgrade from P9 to F828. If it doesn't turn out to be as great as I expect it to be I will settle for the F717.

Don't want the lens-changing of the D-300. Just need a all in one cam, for holiday shots.

As you can see from people's reactions so far some people have already decided that they love it while others hate it. This is a great example of how decisions like this are made not from evidence and learning but from emotion and previous experience.

Like Sony's other's offerings, the F828 will fit or exceed some people's expectations where the capabilities are covered while other people who have the needs that it can't handle, will complain, rip it apart, and belittle the camera as though it is doing something wrong.

The 2 groups that shouldn't buy this camera are the point and shoot people who are not that interested in photography and the long lime pros who are used to high-end film and/or digital equipment.

The sweet spot for this camera should be the extreme photographic enthusiast who doesn't want to be a pro and just has a lot of fun. These people should be very happy.

Personally I'm hoping that it can handle some of my photographic needs where speed isn't necessary and where low light capabilities and a wide DOF is advantageous.

It will be a BIG hit. As most of Sony's cameras.

..........I think it stands alone as the camera box office hit. It robbed the glitz from the A-1 too. To think that for under a grand you can buy a dslr with lens and get, super smooth ,noise free images and yet allow for future unlimited expansion of lenses .

Meanwhile cams like the A-1 and 828 seem to be up against lens and small noisey sensor limitations, and focussing/shutter lag that still cannot compare with that of a dslr..

The drastically lowered price of the 300D/10D has attracted a great deal of converts and has caused hordes of folkswho were formerly interested in high priced one lens prosumers to give more thought to the affordability and advantages of a dslr.
