I am wondering what the likely hood of Ricoh making a GR IIIx in the Street Edition colour ?

I have a regular black GR III. It would be handy to have one or the other in different body colour but I'd rather not sell my black GR III to replace it with a current Street Edition and then get the black GR IIIx.

I guess for practicality I will just use different colour wrist straps to identify them both.

I am curious as to how many of you who intend to own both versions will then also carry both versions on outings or will it be one or the other ?

Personally I think it would be awesome to add a tire thread grip to the SE. Then maybe a racing stripe across the bottom ending at the GR logo.

Something like this watch band.

I would think if it sells, there's a strong likelihood. I would not like to gamble on what style it would be though.

They've done 'street' so hopefully an 'in the woods' edition, 'home and garden' , 'a day at the zoo', or 'macramé craft-club' edition. Or 'kinky'.

The kinky version has my mind boggling

Yeah, the Street version is good design and as you say the IIIx likely could be different. I think I will stick with ViMa's idea of rings and use a different colored Nintendo Wii straps. I use the Wii straps on most of my compacts.

I can see on occasions me carrying both GR III and IIIx.

Wii strap! Good idea. I wonder whether there's one in the box I have not noticed.

It's not for the purists who even get their GR's modded in Tokyo to be pure black lol, but I skinned my IIIx with camo...once the colored rings come out will choose a color as well :)

While I think these look cool it would be handy to be able to see the lens focal length marking on the lens barrel.

I guess their fun nature could make a subject more relaxed.

I would assume this is reversible by peeling off the sticker

I figured that any strap that stops a Wii controller from being thrown around the room might be enough to save a GR from being dropped. The fabric on them is wider than the supplied one, making it a bit more comfortable.

It sounds like a good strap, but it just occurred to me that it’ll be a white one if i fetch it from the wiimote. I see that it comes in different colours though.

I don’t really like the one that came on the gr3 - it feels a bit loose and floppy, compared to the ones on earlier models. It means that if I hold the camera in my hand as I walk, the strap starts to slip down over my hand.

Do you like the wiimote strap?

Yes, I found them more comfortable than the supplied one. I was in the past able to buy a genuine pack of 4 in 4 colours.

I think I will test one for strength now though after reading this article (although its very old) - https://www.theregister.com/2008/12/12/wii_strap_lawsuit/

See the box of 4 in colours

I would expect that they will prepare a Street Edition GR IIIx next year.

To be honest, Street Edition coloring touched my heart. It is so nice looking when you see it alive. With the black ring, you still have a discrete and elegant camera, with the orange yellow one, the camera simply shines during social events ...

It did look nice. The last couple of special editions have hit the mark.
