Hi,

I have recommended the SONY RX10 (I) to a friend who needed a cheap camera for recording yoga classes during the lockdown. But I forgot about the 30min recording limit and now I would like to help him to remove it. I know about Open Memories - I tried loading it and got an MTP error message ... does anybody have any experience with this process? This camera is in the list of compatible cameras with Open Memories, so it should work.

I would be possible to record externally, but the camera has also an 30min auto power off, which is annoying. If this could be disabled, it would help also.

I will appreciate any help! Thanks!

I don't own a 10M1 but the power-off time can be turned off on my other Sony cameras. I know nothing about the 30 min recording limit other than starting and restarting the recording process before the 30 min is up.

Could You please tell me how do You turn off the power-off timer? In the menu I don't see that option - 30min. is the maximum. I have also a SONY A7III and the situation is the same there too.

The guy who will be using the camera would be streaming live, so He can't go and restart the recording.

Actually, he could with a wireless remote control. As long as you are recording a video the camera won't shut off so that won't be a problem.

It would anyhow bring some nervousness and it would be quite distracting to concentrate on such thing. I hope I will fungure it out. Maybe a dummy battery may solve the power-off issue.

Why would it cause nervousness? It's a simple push to stop, push to start. If the person isn't familiar with the procedure 5 minutes of practice should alleviate any fears.
