This Dow's Lake one is a 11:1 pano shot with Olympus 45mm/1.8. Way too wide for my taste. Opinions would be appreciated :)

There should be more panos on DPR. These are WIIIIIDE. Good job

#1 is beautiful! #2 is crippled by cropping out part of the path in the middle. #3 is very interesting with Joe's tavern and the fascinating water features, but would improve by cropping the R side to exclude the distracting white buildings in the background. #4 - much ado about very little...

Here's another one without crippling the path by using the 25mm lens instead of the 45mm lens.

Here's #3 with the right side cropped for a 4:1 pano as you have suggested. Definitely looks better :)

Took another look on my big screen at #3, and like it as-is, with the railings and trees a nice "bookend" to the image.

Yes, a more tranquil, settled image in the above. But the original does have an air of mystery to it as we might wonder what's hidden in the little cove of trees at the bottom - perhaps even that lion which escaped from the Ottawa Zoo Friday night?.

#3 much improved, enhancing the well-done slo-mo water.

Nice captures; Ottawa is a beautiful city

Last one apart, clearly manually stitched, given the G9 has no auto-panorama function, I can only assume these are crops by the 1080 height. They all look OK, with the framed/bookended third shot best of the bunch. As you’ve discovered, super wide panos just don’t work well, certainly not on screen, and printing is a nightmare.

The images with water are well stitched, no obvious mismatches, which is unusual.

I’m a long time use of MS ICE. I now have PS but still prefer the ease of trying different projections in MS ICE. See link below for an album with many panos.

I like all the panos, but yes the last one is too thin and too wide. If printed 20" high (a normal large print height in the U.S.) it would be 220" wide, that is 18.3 feet wide.

For those outside of the U.S., if printed the height of A2 paper (0.594 meters, about 23.16 inches) it would be 6.534 meters wide (about 254.8 inches, 21.236 feet).

In inches or in meters, there would have to be a REALLY good reason to make Panorama with such an extreme width compared to height. I don't really think that your very wide pano actually shows such a good reason.
