I can not seem to find a place to purchase the X-Drive

Any opinions on the merits of this unit and a place or two to purchase one would be appreciated.

There's a guy on eBay who seems to have cornered the market!

compgeeks.com has them for really cheap but w/ no hard drive. if you are ok with installing your own hard drive, this is probably the cheapest place to get them. (i don't work for this company, but it is a very reputable one)

You should search the Storage Forum. That said http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/

has them w/ & w/o HD. MDD has many positive posts as an internet retailer. The Pro version soon but no date. X-Drive slow card to HD.

Lost in the Colorado Mountains!!!

I/O Magic has rebranded the x-drive as teh i-drive and sells them through compusa...although the one i bought needed a firmware upgrade (which i/o magic knew nothing about) before it would work it has been great ever since.

Can you provide a link to where you got the firmware upgrade. Thanks...

If you have to pay more than $US200 for a 30GB dlivered keep looking, that's how much mine was from an Aussie supplier (Exeltek.com.au)

I have a 30GB drive in my X-Drive (version 1) and it works just fine (after the firmware upgrade)

there is no 20GB limitation on the X-Drive.

Then again, I did install the 30GB drive on my own b/c the drive you buy from compgeeks.com does not come w/ a HDD.

I'm thinking of buying the X-Drive II without hard drive from http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com for $100.

This company sells the drive on eBay for the same price. I did notice they got awesome feedback on eBay.

I just ordered a 512Mb Ridata CF Card from them. If that order works out, I'll probbly pull the trigger on the X-Drive by the end of the week.
