Welcome to The Weekly Image Thread

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT) and is open for submissions and discussions about images and processing techniques until the next Saturday, or the new thread is started. If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

A strange sky, Rich. It looked like that here during the fires, before it turned dark brown.

Lovely woodland flowers and I like the carpeted forest. Rich

Just want to share a couple of pics of the volcano ...and the issues of the eruption one is from long ago when the lava flow was way up near the crater, and the later is on the skirts near some cattle farms.....

The Best Camera is the one that you have on your Hands.

Wow! The second image, I don't even understand what I see. Is it lava spurting out of the crater or is it pouring down the sides?

Thanks for showing. It was treat!

Pouring down the sides and it is how it looks while flowing through the fields..... a lot of land has been destroyed....

A few shots from the end of a fine day at last.

High of 45F today in Minnesota, still not much going on in the garden, but, a few crocus are blooming nicely.

Like the mix of colors growing together

Though I think the purple blooms are the show stopper.

Horrible and beautiful at the same time.

I spent a summer on Iceland. They talk about heathen lava and christian lava. The lava fields where nothing grows yet is the christian lava. It takes about 1000 years before things can grow on the lava and Iceland was christened about year 1000. I assume it goes quicker in a warmer climate like yours.

Oh! Cool. I thought you just admired them. OK, can I ride behind you when I come? I've decided Scotland is too cold for me. ;-)

P.S. I took my drivers license 1 WEEK too late to automatically get a MC license too. Do you believe it?

Not sure why the guy in the first is not getting roasted Roy! The second looks downright scary! Lots of smoke still coming from the top!

Some pretty intense colours on the sides of those 'hills' Dave. A great sunset as well. Got up to about 2 C here today, and windy with snow in the air at times!

Very nice Jim. Once you finish enjoying them apparently you need to harvest the stamens for the most expensive spice in the world.
