This is the weekly Show Your Snaps thread where we invite you to show your own snapshots or even choice pictures. I'll be sure to comment about your photos, if you choose to share.

When you are posting your own images please submit them as a reply to this post. Otherwise your pictures may be overlooked. You might also consider describing your pictures in the subject title. See my own photos for this week as a reply.

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each other and it's fun to share too. Thanks everyone for your participation.

This is open to all camera systems and skill levels.

The last few days when we had some non-rainy days I did find something interesting birds. I hope you like them.

Photo No. 1 - First, let me show you were I found these birds on the rails and other surrounding structures. The lighting was not the best. This would be perfect for the creation of an HDR photo.

Photo No. 2 - On a cloudy day, the details on the bird can be seen better. I didn't work out as well when the background was in a sunny location.

Photo No. 3 - Again, but the background could have been better.

Photo No. 4 - The bird moved just a little too much (shaking the feathers).

Photo No. 5 - I think this was nice, with the smooth background.

Photo No. 6 - This was taken in the shadows on a sunny day.

Photo No. 7 - With these geese everywhere where I walked, I thought I would try something different. I hope you like this closeup.

Photo No. 8 - It took some patience to wait for them to be still.

Photo No. 9 - These were the geese I took photos of above (I believe).

Photo No. 10 - And finally I did have the patience to wait for a flying goose. I hope Rocket is jealous. :-) He takes such good pictures of birds in flight. I hope he and you all like this one. I did minimal cropping for composition. I really got lucky that I didn't clip off the wings as this bird was flying above rather fast (coming in for a landing).

The red winged blackbird is one of my favourite with its special chant.

Now that my newest Sea-Doo is all shined up, I have to wait until the ice melts. I am so unlucky that this Sea-Doo will be in my face for the next 5-6 weeks until I can get it on water...

One last coat of wax missing (now Biff, don’t con me, I want two coats of wax. Yes, Mr. McFly, I was just starting on the second coat)!

I can’t even take it outside as the trailer is buried deep in snow and ice. But I’l start working on the old Sea-Doo in a few days.

Regards,
There is always something to shoot/snap, you just have to know how to do it and have the right gear.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to capture the orange-red color like that with the black. The lighting was just right.

Six weeks won't be long. That will be the end of April. That's a beautiful machine.

Yes and by the time we know it it’ll be winter again! Not that I don’t like it but as I’m getting older, winter is a lot of work.

Another mountain hike set from me^^ I never expected that the late winter, right before the transitioning to spring the woods can be so pretty, when the early summer comes I will again go on this trail, and will show you how the mountain changes.

Those are beautiful mountain scenes. It's especially appreciated since a lot of us are not traveling to the mountains (out of the metropolitan areas) because of the COVID-19 pandemic. That's a good catch of the butterfly too.

In these daring times, especially after being sick with the corona in December, the mountains are really a treatment for me. Fortunately for me, I live just an hour from 3 different mountain ranges. And there are no restrictions for going into the wild in my country, for now at least.

Some of our mountain trails are open, others are closed. Here's where I was last autumn in the Columbia River Gorge, when it was cloudy and rainy. I could not take a nearby trail (because it was closed), so I just walked in other places along the river.

Hi Digirame,

Love the birds especially the GIF (goose in flight). :-)

Hi benjilafouine ,

I take it your still frozen over in your parts and for roughly six more weeks, OMG.

It'll be worth the wait.

Hi all,

I'm beginning to see small buds appearing on the trees now and the bluebells are beginning to push their way to the surface, all a sign of the beginning of spring. Officially spring doesn't start till 20th of March but we're splitting hairs now.

Small streams with mini waterfalls dot the landscape around where I live. (Aperture f/9 ~~ (SS): 1/15 ~~ ISO 100 ~~ EC: 0 ~~ PASM Mode: Shutter Priority ~~ Metering: Evaluative ~~ Focus Type: AI Servo ~~ FL: 249mm ~~ Lens: Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD ~~ Camera ID: Canon EOS 7D Mark II).

Your never far from herons either, where there's water they'll be herons. (Aperture f/7.1 ~~ (SS): 1/400 ~~ ISO 250 ~~ EC: 0 ~~ PASM Mode: Custom ~~ Metering: Partial ~~ Focus Type: AI Servo ~~ FL: 249mm ~~ Lens: Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD ~~ Camera ID: Canon EOS 7D Mark II).

I don't know the species but it's an early one that's for sure. (Aperture f/7.1 ~~ (SS): 1/125 ~~ ISO 640 ~~ EC: 0 ~~ PASM Mode: Aperture Priority ~~ Metering: Evaluative ~~ Focus Type: AI Servo ~~ FL: 90mm ~~ Lens: Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Di VC USD Macro ~~ Camera ID: Canon EOS 7D Mark II).

Thanks. I don't take much pictures of birds in flight. I'll have to try to get more in the future.

It's so good to see you back again with your beautiful pictures. That waterfall is stunning. I love the flowers and the heron too. Wow...you nailed the photo of the small bird with that great background (particularly on the left side).
