Hi you all,

Photographing seems to be, well for me like an explosion. Here S2 at 1600 ISO, feeling myself very comfartable.

Well all might be in the snapshot leage, but for me all felt natural.

jacques.

Not planned, just seen, felt realy great to make these, but you may call me insane. ;-)

Hello Jacques,

I like these images very much. I am especially fond of your reflections! I know it may seem unatural, but I must admit that I love reflection shots. Wonderful Work. On question, if you don't mind: Why the choice of ISO 1600, especially on the still shots? I'm always willing to learn. I too feel an explosive rush when playing with cameras!

Warm Wishes,
-Andy

Hi Jacques..
I particularly like the first one..
all were interesting ..fun.
Wierd.. I was shooting in a restaurant last night myself
and was thinking of a thread "for Jacques".
Though a little more abstract
with slow shutter speeds..I was playing
with your idea of shape, form and movement
filling the frame.
Had a great time.
Bruce

Hi Jim,

Afther a very nice diner, my wife and I had, we made a small walk through the town, never ever looked at what th eresult was, just set the S2 to 1600 ISO, WB to tungsten and thought well I will see.

The thing that wondered me the most was, so many noticed to be photographed, even those being in a bright inside and looking at me in a quite dark outside world,

jacques.

Hi phat,

I think the fact most are made from the outside through a window and the 1600 ISO makes them a bit hazy.

Hope you still enjoyed looking at them,

jacques.

Hi Andy,

I do like reflections a lot too, sometimes I have the feeling that in the reflection there can be seen th ereal soul of an image.

1600 ISO as all are handheld, t is between 1/45 to 1/90 s, made with S2 and Nikon 28-70 AFS, which is focussing very well even at this light levels.

My main goal in photography is composition, making compositions in a split of a second, not to go and sit on a scene and work several hours to get it right, just like to frame real live situations, not by thinking but by feeling.

And yes I know many will think about this type of shots, they are snapshots, and yes they are, but they are my snapshots and I like them, as I feel a lot of th esubjects are in the right place in the frame, well ofcourse they might have been in a better place in case of designing a frame, but all are just parts of a second existing frames,

jacques.

Well not inviting others to make the frames the way I do, just being open about the way I make photographs.

Hi Martin,

Yes ofcourse, the car has a bit in commeon with your light chains, those which with you played about two years ago and also with the reflections in the cab drivers car, well I know you like the light reflections.

your friend,

jacques.

And 1600 ISO with the S2, it's simply very nice, much better than film at 1600 ISO.

Hi Bruce,

I would like to see some of your restaurant framings.

The words about shapes, textures, colours, filling the frame, sometimes even not filling theframe, but just leaving an idea about shapes outside the frame and all without being the reality of the subjects being realy important, I think I do have this feeling about photography quite a long time. I think I do try some imperfection in the frame as well, live isn't perfect without imperfection.

I do like to see women with some imperfection, I do love to look at women with character, well you also may call it they have to have some sexapeal, the subjects in my photographs has to have some sexapeal too.

Well all is very personal and I don't feel abused as others don't see what I see, as I just like to frame it my way.

And I to be honest, ofcourse I like to meet some people who also like the photographs, who shouldn't,

jacques.

Please open a new thread and show some of your restaurant photographs.

Just post those you like and not what you think others may like, that would be realy intereresting.

Hi razzi,

Do you think you can pick out my favourite of these series ?

Then I will tell you if I do have family ties with Vincent,

jacques.

Hi Jacques,

10 images is too many to make coherent comments about. Let me just say that I did enjoy looking at the images.

Hi Jacques,

This one reminds me of an Edward Hopper painting.... I also like the geometry of it....it's very well seen. It's ironic how "Hopper-ish" this image is given the fact that Hopper was a realist and detested abstract expressionism and you excel at capturing abstract images.I like the mood of solitude you've captured here.'Very well done.

Jim

i agree. this one is really beautiful. very nice capture jacques.

Certainly far above "snapshot league", Jacques.

I'm especially drawn to the blue car reflection, maybe for the color?

Rue Thiers is excellent. And I really like the lonely dog walking the streets with it's head down in #7.

Hi Stan,

Well it's nice to read your enjoyed this series.

I decided to post these as a series, just to show a bit about the photographic mood I have had during that hour.

Dear Jim,

Thanks for your fine comments, but many many thanks for the name of Edward Hopper.

I did a search on the web and came accros some of his very fine works, never had seen any of those before. I think I 'll vissit a bookshop tomorrow to see if I can obtain a book about his work, as I realy love what he made.

IMHO he might be a realist, but his way of expressing is very impressionistic too.
