That the year and a half on the newspaper gave you a big head and you need a atitude adjustment. Dam thats rude! People like different styles not just your style. The picture DavidP shot has merit for what he likes and captures and that is all that matters.

--The benefit of a class is seeing how a group of people approach the
same subject. You can benefit from that. I have never taken a
class, myslef. But I start a 2 year Commercial Photography program
this fall, covering the business aspect, large-format glamour, fine
art, digital photojournalism (working with a local Seattle paper,
I.E. the interning at the Seattle Times, etc.). All very valuable
stuff. Personally, I always want to improve. Learn new things. I'm
sure the year and a half I spent working for the local newspaper in
highschool taught me a lot more than a book would.
Examples?

Take a class? That's for those who want to follow some fuddy
duddy instructor's "rules".
I'm quite capable of reading about those rules on my own, and them
ignoring them. At my own peril or not. LOL.
--At first I thought it was just one of those situations where you
didn't get quite what you wanted, and for some reason had to
settle. But then I looked at your webpage. wow! You are just plain
terrible! I'm sure if it wasn't for auto-exposure, and auto-focus,
you'd just have solid black, or solid white images (with the
occasional indistinguishable blob).
Oh well. Look, when you're shooting, follow the motion of the
action. If it flows out to the tip of an outstretched hand, capture
it! Don't cut it in half! You can crop later, but you can't add
what was not shot (in most situations anyway, digital aside..).
Take a class or something.
