I posted this general thread earlier on "lens talk" but thought my experience here would possibly help someone.
I received, last week, the new Tamron lens and mounted it on my A9 and was just immediately impressed with how beautifully the lens worked and how sharp and nicely rendered the images were.
However.....imagine my dismay when I placed it on my A7rII and a significant number of the images were out of focus. (got green box in focus rectangle but image not focuses).
Then I mounted it on my A6600 and it didn't communicate with the camera at all! Even manual focus didn't work.
Ultimately I discovered the lens (brand new from Digital Goya) was version 0.01. I downloaded the update software only to discover that the software is not Mac compatible. Luckily a friend with a PC completed the firmware update and now the lens works perfectly on all my Sony bodies. Current version is 0.03.
By the way, customer service at Digital Goya was extraordinary; I got a human being immediately and she promptly offered return/ exchange but suggested I try and update the lens.
