I have been waiting so long for Fuji to launch a proper replacement for my X-E2. Just an upgraded camera, with same form factor, same size, same buttons, but just upgraded AF and sensor would be perfect, but Fuji doesn't seem to make it neither with the X-E3 not with the X-E4.

So I have just bought... another X-E2!!!!! :)

A black one this time :)

What don't you like about the X-E3? Just curious, because the X-E3 was my first.

A very wise choice IMHO 👌

Brilliant. Same opinion here. But I am probably going to look at an XE2s. May as well get the tiny upgrade, I forgot what it was. The XE2 was perfect, all they could do was tweak it a touch, so they had to keep the name and add an s on. A 2021 refresh with Xtrans 4 was the only thing that made sense to me too.

The dumbing down and cutting corners that started with the XE3 has killed the line. I can't see many getting it for practical reasons, its more of a slippery fashion statement.

A true XE2 refresh should have cost $1200 because of the addition of the tilting screen. $1300 if they had added WR too. If I don't get an XE2s it will probably be an X100V to be my B cam to my XE2.

I did the same with the X-Pro 2, new one just wasn’t for me. If you find something that works for you, stick with it!

An old Fuji is a good Fuji. I bought an X-T2 last summer, and may eventually get an X-T20.

Yes I'll probably get an XT3 now and keep XT20 as backup or place to keep 27mm. Wife also has an XT10, which I had before that one... Don't have my XE2 anymore.

XT3 is the most recent cam Fuji has made that I actually like, after that, not sure what upgrade path would be..don't really like the XT4 or XPro 3.

X-E3 is smaller, the EVF is smaller too AND has no D-pad

Differences where really really minimal, mainly because the X-E2 received amazing firmware updates during its life. In fact, with the latest FW update you had the feeling that you've got a new camera: the whole user interface, menus and so on changed, they added the Classic Chrome film sim, AF improved... The original User Manual became completely obsolete and a new one was launched.

I really miss that Kaizen approach nowadays :(

In case you want to know the exact differences between the two models:

It's such a nice camera. I use mine with a 35mm f/1.4, a 60mm and someday fairly soon the 50mm f/2.

Its awesome with the 50mm f2- balances great and fast autofocus. Although 23 or 27mm are used more I enjoy the 50mm f2 most.

Thank you, extremely helpful link. Also thinking of an XM1 now.

Mega cheap, lighter, grip, flash, tilt screen and may have 1st generation colors, for $100 -ish. Worth having when fancy hip shooting. Might get for my fisheye, Industar 69 28mm and 16-50mm.

I'm pretty sure that the 50mm f/2 is going to be my regular walkaround lens with this camera.

I started with the X-E3. I was asked to shoot an outdoor wedding for a friend and instead of renting, I found a nice X-E2 and bought it. It still had firmware 1.0 and looked completely different from my E3. The first thing I did was update the firmware and it became an entirely different camera.

While my grandson was studying at the University of Tours in France, he had an electrical fire in his apartment that damaged his Canon Rebel kit, which I had given him. When he came home, I let him use the X-E2 and he fell in love. I got him a couple of lenses and gave it to him.

I found I was missing the E2 and shopped around again and found an X-E2s that was practically new. I bought it and love it.

The differences between the E2 and E2s are subtle but significant. They feel and operate the same, but there is an intangible difference that makes it a better camera. If I was in the market and found an E2 and an E2s in the same condition, but the E2s was $100 more, I'd pay it.

BTW, I don't understand the heartburn regarding the E3. There's so many things it does better than the E2. I love shooting with two cameras and I can go back and forth between the two seamlessly.

What are the many things the Xe3 can do better?

I have tried one in a shop and had the same problem with the EVF as with the

Leica M6 many years ago : the eyepoint was too short because I am wearing glasses

and I couldn`t see the frames for the 28 mm lens.

No problem with my Xe2s.
