3D LUT (.cube format) to ICC or .costyle?

Is it possible to convert a .cube LUT to any format that is usable by Capture One?

I have purchased Briz Lut Convertor but the resulting c1 styles do absolutely nothing to the image, sadly. I have also tried 3dLutCreator - the resulting ICC makes photos super dark, doesn't look like anything the LUT produces in Photoshop.

It's hard to reply without examples, do you set the Gamma 1.8 for Capture One in 3DLC when creating Input profiles?

Yes. I tried all combinations of options, watched every video tutorial available, read every article. Bough an extra program. Nothing. I spent like 2 days trying to get it to work. Basically, it is the LUT that I use for pretty much every photo, but it's extremely annoying because I have to edit every photo in C1 with different colors, then export it, then open in Photoshop, apply the LUT manually and resave, reimport in C1, and have it only as JPG, while the raw file still has different colors. I want to ONLY use C1, for everything. And I know that theoretically it's possible to convert .cube to .icc and then to create my own .costyle from that .icc and then use it on layers in C1, etc. I want that. If someone could help me I would be forever grateful. I can upload my LUT if someone wants to try it.

I'm on PC

Put the stylepack's folder here

C:\Users\_admin_name_\AppData\Local\CaptureOne\Styles50

Put Input profile here
C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color

Mac: ~/Library/Colorsync/Profiles

Google Drive

Please let me know

Kind Regards

A very big thank you for taking your time to help me, I appreciate it immensely.

Unfortunately it still doesn't work. I have followed your instructions, and also tried other ways. Costyle doesn't change absolutely anything about the image, and when I load the ICC profile from the color tab it does make some changes to the image but nothing like the LUT intended. Could you please open any image in photoshop, and load the original .cube lut in there, or in camera raw and then try the same image in C1P, how do they compare? Something is wrong somewhere.

This LUT is based on Kodachrome, it shift colors quiet significantly, it doesnt only warm the image.

Thank you again. I can also pay you for your time if you want.

In one of my previous posts I've stated that I have watched EVERY video on the subject. I didn't exaggerate when I made that statement.

let me translate from Russian for you... you create .icc/.icm camera profile for C1 using your LUT __AND__ some existing camera profile (or if you want some minimal amount of color transforms before your LUT you select something like along the lines of "Phase One Effects - No color correction.icm" ...

for example combining of of LUTs coming with 3DLutCreator v1.52 with that for a Fuji X-H1 raw... everything works

get your LUT into 3DLutCreator, then

File -> Export -> Export 3DLut FIle -> (type name following C1 naming conventions for camera profiles + Save As: ICC Profile) -> ICC Type: Input Profile + [V]Base on Profile: "...\Phase One Effects - No Color correction.icm"

Done.

and if your LUT is based on a normal starting colors then use some regular C1 camera profile for a camera model, instead of the Phase One Effects - No Color correction.icm

left is based on X-H1 generic, right is based on no color correction with the same LUT from 3DLutCreator - in both cases no "exposure correction" or "brightness" or curve applied to adjust the brightness of the original raw file... to illustrate the difference...

Thanks for taking your time to help me.

I speak Russian and have watched the video you suggested a few days ago.

What happens in my case, is that everything works, no errors, but when I apply either the .ICC or the .costyle the image turns very dark and flat, with super muted colors. Now when I load my raw file in 3dlut creator and apply the .cube lut there - everything is fine. When I apply the .cube lut in photoshop - everything is fine. It doesn't work in C1P after conversion. I have tried 10000000 things, every combination possible. AKomblentz above uploaded the .icc he made - it gives me the same dark and muted colors as my own conversion.

But thanks again, really appreciate it. I guess something is wrong with my C1P :/

I downloaded your .cube file and make Fuji X-H1 camera profile as I said (using in this case no color correction profile from C1)

C1 v21.whatever is the recent minor version

3DLutCreator v1.54

and applied it to an arbitrary X-H1 raw

everything works OK... I do not think the error is on C1 side... it seems to me you do not follow the process

sorry, forgot to adjust for a color profile when saving a screenshot - here is the correct color of the screenshot

that doesnt look right, sorry. This LUT is a Kodachrome emulation, should be super saturated. Check out my image above. Something is getting lost in conversion. I tried many images, including raws from different cameras and even randon jpegs - photoshop produces exactly the result I want across all different images. C1P - nothing even remotely resembling that. Weird.

I used CUBE with a no color correction profile to generate a new camera profile as an example - no wonder that it is different from what you expect... if you want different results then you need to use a different starting point... for example which camera profile was used to generate tiff or jpg in C1 that then you opened in PS and applied your cube there ? if you can share the actual raw file from above we can try to investigate the case ?

as I noted CUBE is applied to some starting point... in my case I was just illustrating the process with "Phase One Effects - No color correction.icm" as a base input profile... and that will always give you destaurated results... use different starting point before your LUT and you will get more saturation, etc

as I suggested - share raw file and provide details about raw conversion __BEFORE__ you get the output from raw converted to PS and applied that LUT there... what was the camera profile in raw converter before it's output went to PS ?

Thanks for your patience, you are incredible!

Here is the raw file: https://we.tl/t-T5eqBim3TI

I applied the lut to the raw file in photoshop, there was no jpg and no preprocessing.

Same in C1P, just open the raw file and apply change the ICC from camera default to custom one. The camera is Ricoh GR3, but once you change the ICC profile I think that it discards the colors from the camera profile and uses the custom ICC.

And just to be clear, I'm looking just for a color shift, no other curves: contrast, etc. I want a good starting point for the colors, the rest I want to adjust on a per photo basis.

Bolshoye spasibo, ochen hochu tebya otblagodarit' no neznayu kak. Napishi v lichku, poznakomimsya.
