Hi to all,

I was thinking to try one of best lenses out there with one of the best sensors , and I must admit that results are clearly great (from technical point of view).

The lens easily covers 44x33 sensor giving us image similar as 160mm f1.6 would be on FF camera.

Maybe this is the most shallow dof we can get with great image quality from wide open.

Why not combine best of both worlds.

Here I used tripod , electronic shooter, 2 sec timer and manual focus.

Here are full size samples:

This combo is not very practical but can be useful in some situations.

All the best

Nice. Makes me want to try my Nikon 200/2 on a GFX.

The images are lovely. The couple makes a wonderful subject. But why is there a circle of highly blurred, lighter tones behind them? Is this a product of the lens, processing? Just curious, I loved the shots.

Thanks JIm, You should try Nikon 200 f2, it's great lens, I used it in past.

Thank you , I am just not sure about which lighter tones do you mean.

Nett. Ich möchte meine Nikon 200/2 auf einem GFX ausprobieren.
Unfortunately, that shadows very hard at F2.

Greetings Gerd

Beautiful images. Definitely not a practical setup, as I remember my Nikon 200mm F2 used to weigh almost 3kg. Canon one is probably the same.

Which adapter did you use for this lens? AF?

Please do. I miss my Nikon 200mm F2. I sold it when I switched to GFX system, and I still miss the lens. It was an absolute gem.

Thanks, Canon is a bit lighter then Nikon version, also I compared Nikon on d850 and Canon on 5dsr and found Canon to be sharper, but it maybe just these copies.

I am using Techart adapter, and while AF works it is not precise enough, so I used MF with great success.

Looks like a natural fog to me. If so, no special processing or lens effect required.

Lovely images. Have you perhaps tried the EF 300mm f2.8mk2 perhaps. Curious as to how that would fare

I own 300mm f2.8 IS but first version, if you wish I can try few samples on different f stops.

Lovely images that tell a story and do it well.

The lady is wearing pants that cause quite intensive moiré, especially obvious in the first image. Which is a good thing, as it shows that the lens 'ouresolves' the 101 MP sensor.

Out of focus rendition is very nice.

Best regards

Erik

Thanks Eric, I noticed that , actually for first time on GFX100, lens is crazy sharp with great bokeh, and here this is sensor is showing the full potential of the lens since it covers quite a bit more then FF.

Hi,

I'm very seriously thinking of the GFX 100 or GFX100S to compliment my 1DXMKIII

I am concerned about focus, is there an adapter you would recommend that also utilizes IS? I shoot with a Canon f/2.8 300 IS USM II for sports portraits.

Would you be kind enough to post some 300mm shots with the Fuji?

Thank you and the shots are beautiful

Best regards, Tony

Thank you, about IS I don’t know if any adapter will work with lens IS, Techart that I am using doesn't do well.
Also AF while works it is not usable, in my opinion long lenses are not worth adopting to GFX because of all shortcomings.
The above images I did for test purpose, it is with manual focus, timer and tripod , so not practical at all.

If you wish to have more resolution with your lens maybe Canon r5 is best solution to date.

If you want to have that bit extra background blur you will need to work quite hard for that.

About 300mm f2.8 IS I have version 1 which is not on same level as v2, but I can take test shot if you wish so.

Thank you for writing... I did think of the R5 but really want to move to MF for my fashion work and portraits.

Hasselblad is not an option at $47,000 USD but their colors are stunning, and nothing is sealed as I shoot a lot in beach and by the water. I was happy to see that GFX 100 is sealed pretty good and $10K is tempting.

This transition is not going to be easy and your shots are exhibiting a lot of what I want....

Perhaps in time... There will be more options as technology is moving so quickly.

Best to you!!! Tony :)
