I was birding with my P950 , and heard a clunk sound. (never good).

I can't see any image thru the lens at all. I tried powering it off, pulling and replacing the battery, and replacing the memory card.

I can see camera settings via the LCD, but no image. I can zoom out and back in, but nothing changes.

Tried snapping a photo and got garbage.

Looks like I may have to send it in for repair? So I wonder how long I'll be w/o my camera .

Anyone else had this issue? or have any better troubleshooting ideas?

I bought this in June from Amazon, along with an Asurion warranty. But Asurion says they don't kick in until my 1 year manufacturing warranty expires.

I am Not happy of course.

I have loved the camera until this.

thanks

Sorry to hear about this!

Can schedule a repair at the below website.

Usually the repair time is pretty fast, what could take time is waiting for parts.

Cheers!

Call the Nikon tech phone number first. Explain issue to the tech. They will have you try a reset and when that doesn't work, they'll have you send it in and explain how long it will take. Ten days ago they told me that repair times were longer because of the holidays, but maybe things have improved since.

Hi,

thanks for the info.

I ended up sending it back to Nikon on the 18th, and took delivery of the repaired camera this afternoon. Took less time than I thought it would.

they replaced the Lens unit, as well as the Main PCB.

I just took a couple of sample photos, and am anxious to go out birding and try this out.

thanks

I had a P950.

Once.

Sent it back to Nikon with focus problem.

They solved it. Sent it back.

Not completed, so they collected it the following day.

Then it went to the European repair depot.

Czechoslovakia, of all places.

It is now 16 weeks since I last saw my camera.

Can't have it back because of Brexit problems.

Dilemma.

Approached insurers to discuss problem.

They say claim for another.

If I do and the other comes back, then what?

I still have my 900, that would make 3 Nikons.

That's still 2 Nikons too many

I just love problems like this. Stops me getting bored with the lockdown.

In hind-site 20/20, should not have sent the camera back.

But now what to do, I think the insurer is right, to make the claim.

And if you ever get your sent P950 back, well that's will be a surprise.

Cheers!
