Hello. I have some lenses that can use CLA, in some cases they may require fixing. From ebay, I see there may be two people that specialize in servicing M and LTM cameras and lenses.

Is there a list kept by some forum member, or any recommendation to send some lenses for service and repair? I ask here, because I am getting my info from ebay comments on lenses that have "CLA" in the title, but I really don't know if they are good choices.

Thanks!

Thanks, this will do. Two of them were mentioned in lens listings as well.

I sent you a PM.

Do you have a preference for certain geographic areas as well?

These are all US repair places. I am sure some of the European or Asian posterscould help you out.

Youxin Ye of YYE Camera has done 3 lenses for me, they have been as expected much better than when they left. The last one he seemed to be slammed with work and it took a month + to get the lens back. His work is first rate.

Just US, I live in Florida but anywhere in the US is the same. It is fantastic that there are experts servicing these lenses. With my Zeiss Rollei set, I had not such luxury. Servicing one would cost more than many lenses when one factors shipping and tax, and had months in the queue. So it makes me happy the prices for Leica are very reasonable and they are specialized. One more reason to go Leica.

I heard great thing, and he can service the cameras in addition to the lenses, and not just service but all kinds of repair.

Thanks for the generous suggestions and time spend answering. Happy NEW year!

I've been to Youxin's house to drop off my camera to be serviced. His entire living room is stacked high with incoming/outgoing parcels. This is what he and his wife do.

Can honestly say that’s the first time I’ve ever heard someone praise Leica servicing costs :D

$75 for servicing a lens that costs $1000 (say a Summicron) is better than $150 for a lens that costs $130-200 (say, a Rollei or Contax RF lens that almost nobody services)

Huh fair enough.

My experience with Aus and US repairers is that you’ll pay 2-3x as much for a basic service for anything that has ‘Leica’ written on it, relative to any of the regular Japanese brands (Pentax, olympus, Nikon etc).

Ah, yes. My comment is only regarding third party services! I can't imagine anything Leica being affordable. Just a 35/2 will run you $2000 and up...used. Probably because the owners care, and the lenses were very good, there's a healthy repair ecosystem where they can even polish, recoat, etc.

Just had 2 Leica lenses CLAd for $150 with one needing a part. Both were OK when I sent them off and are excellent now.
