I gave up on mirrorless and FF too

Did you consider the Nikon AF-P DX Nikkor 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR as an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens? Or does it not do sunstars well?
I´ve checked Ken Rockwell´s reviews on lenses for Nikon APS-C (he always provides information on the quality of sunstars) and got the Tokina 11-20. Couldn´t test it yet as the weather over here is pretty miserable (no sun).

Have you thought of adding a power bank? The pic below is with my XS10 and a 20 aH PD bank

Mother of God...

Do you actually take photographs with that unwieldy, hard-wired, rubber-banded beast dangling from your brand-new X-S10??
Geez.....I rather carry 3 or 4 batteries in my pocket instead of dealing with a setup like this. The batteries are small. I got a XPro3 to have a smaller alternative to my Nikon D810.

LOL...awkward! I keep my external battery in a fanny pack and use a long enough cable to connect to my XT3.

So far I have for the D7500:

1.8/20 mm FX, 1.8/50mm FX and the 28-300 VR, left over from my former FF (D750) times.

The 20mm makes for interesting wide angle shots with a shallow DOF and doesn´t look oversized on the D7500. Now I just have to wait for spring.

I´ll probably sell the 50mm and will certainly sell the 28-300 VR, as the IQ looks horrible with APS-C (it was surprisingly good with the D750).

In DX-size I have:

Tokina 11-20 (supposedly great sunstars)

Nikon 18-140 (surprisingly good bokeh for a zoom lens)

And the Micro 85mm VR is expected to arrive anyday now.

The three recently acquired DX lenses cost me 750.00 € and cover all of my use cases.

I´ll get the 16-80, should the 18-140 turn out to be not good enough. Also the 70-300 AF-P DX would make some sense (on rare occasions).

This stuff certainly not state of the art, but puchasing a 17" printer last spring was, as I said, an eye opener. I got great prints from the plasticky Fuji XC 50-230 (see shots below) and I´m not expecting the Nikon glass to be noticably inferior.

It looks like it is time for you to start posting on the following Nikon forum, you did decide to leave Fuji - right?

Nikon DX SLR (D40-D90, D3000-D7500) Talk

It sounds like you are trying to convince us you are doing the right thing.

Actually just sharing my thoughts on the whole ML / FF issue and the question, of what gets you the shot / print (I don´t care about Flickr) in the end of the day.

Fuji is a great system (and my X-T2 had the nicest shutter sound I´ve ever heard).

Remember it's still a work in progress. I may downsize to a 10 or 15 aH bank, they are very cheap, a 10 aH bank would be half the weight of the one i showed but still give roughly 6 or 7x a normal battery life.

Remember, for me it's not all about just the battery life either, it's about the hassle of keeping those batteries charged. You got a dial battery charger? Heck some people don't even have a charger, they just use USB C and plug the camera in. With a bank, i likely only need to charge anything but once a week, and it's just one item. I have 5 batteries already, it's easier up front but more work later. And one can go a different design too like below.

Again, the right angle adapters will keep everything in tight, this is just a normal wire for concept.

I’m afraid I have to agree with SeldomFocused on this one. I wish you the best of luck with your new gear and really no one here is in a position to question your decision without having all the facts and clearly understanding all the factors that contributed to it. However, as you transition over to your new gear, I’d encourage you to take those observations over the the appropriate forum, as this forum remains focused on Fujifilm gear. Those folks here who might be interested in hearing more about your experiences with the new camera are, of course, free to follow your posts in that forum.

Definitively a fan only forum !

So, anyone is welcome to post positive comments, but as soon as someone is explaining why he is not as happy as he hoped, or saying anything that looks negative, he is highly pressed to quit and keep it shut

I'm currently using Fuji gear exclusively, but I don't mind reading anyone comment even negative, especially when they are polite (OP is obviously not looking to troll or something...).

In the end I find it more instructive to read all kind of reports rather than only positive / fanboyism ones

Apparently he's able to take quite a few photographs at a time..

I'm glad you shared, the bang for the buck in your used Nikon setup is undeniable. If you keep your X-T2, there's now a chipped Nikon to Fuji adapter that autofocuses your Nikon glass, so you can get the best of both worlds. If you feel like carrying an extra battery in your pocket :-D

Been meaning to ask.. what brand is your 17" printer? Is the ink for it pretty reasonable?

Would you mind sharing the name of the adapter for Nikon to Fuji? Thanks.

My point was simple... the primary focus of this forum is on Fujifilm gear. Comments that relate to that gear (positive or negative) are welcome here as long as the discussion remains civil. More detailed discussions and reviews about other brands belong in the appropriate forums. However, links to those discussions within this forum are totally OK, particularly if they might be helpful to people trying to decide which brand they might wish to adopt. Comparisons here are also fine, again, as long as they are civil and don’t fall into the realm of trolling.

Well, the main important thing is you found the right combination for you.
I owned several Fuji cameras including old models and I never had any battery problem.
Come on. Be real. The Fuji cameras all have terrible battery life. I never leave the house without one fully charged in-camera and two fully charged in the bag. My Pentax system operates for days on one charge.
I also have Nikon DSLRs and while most lenses are not expensive, I don't think there are better than the Fujinons, at least perceived build quality is very different. As far as image quality is concerned, I'm happy with my f/1,8 G lineup for the price I paid (less than $300 per lens) but the Fujinons are easier to use wide open. Special mention to my Tokina 100mm f/2,8 macro, very sharp and cheap lens. If you are interested into macro or wildlife, then DSLR options are more developed and less expensive than mirrorless lenses.

I don't think my Sony A7 is a simple camera... I keep it because it's full frame and takes almost every lens possible but ergonomics are poor and battery life is horrible.

It looks like ´Read this, this is why I´m not with you anymore´! :-)

And the reasons you provide feel a little odd too:

- Price wise the X-T4 is over the top, but A7iii was worth serisous consideration

- After you didn´t recharge your Li-ion batteriy for several months (!) you discovered the battery was dead afterwards

- The settings of your camera was lost after long time being without power and that got you angry, no matter there exist a settings backup method to prevent this

Anyway, although I don´t know what was the reason to inform us about this decision, I wish you good light with whatever gear you have. :-)
