I gave up on mirrorless and FF too

I would sell it, if there was an APS-C equivalent (considering sunstars) to the 16-35, but there isn´t.
Except there is, it's called the 10-24
Oh, no worry, I do own the Fujinon 10-24 (on sale now).

Nice lens, but can you show me one good sunstar shot that was made with this lens? Because that´s what I meant with "APS-C equivalent", if you cared to read.
Those are nice. But since you're comparing adapted Canon glass on a Sony anyway... I would have sold the Sony and used the money for the Fringer EF to FX adapter. Or the Sony and its native lens for the Metabones Speed Booster one that corrects the FoV and gains a stop of light, so you even get FF equivalence in speed and FL.

Then you could use your Canon EF lenses on the X-T2 with actual equivalent FoV and capture, plus the X-T2's superior (to Sony A7 and yes this assertion is the hill I will die on) ergonomics.

I have given up and came back multiple times. I just picked up a Canon 5Ds to replace my X-H1. When i picked up the 5Ds body i was super excited, then today i got my first F1.4 prime lens and i am appalled how big and heavy it is! I have decided to keep the fuji for the majority of my walk around non tripod duties. I am going to use the canon for special maximum IQ - tripod sessions.

In the past i usually used the cheaper F1.8 lenses and they were quite compact for full frame sensors. This Tamron 35mm f1.4 is a beast. 815g vs 300g for the fuji 23mm F1.4

Smaller, great controls, and most importantly it makes me want to pick it up and shoot it.

Nikon's stuff is too big (both FF and APS-C) and too blah.

We all have our priorities, battery life is a big one for me too. I ended up with 5 batteries for my XS10 and im still debating whether i want to set up a power bank rig for it, even for stills shooting. Im also all for more DOF control, just not sure i'll ever be willing to abandon Fuji OOC colors and jpeg control, it's made shooting more fun again not having to worry as much about editing EVERY photo.

I mean that's supposed to be an advantage of ML anyway, you get a general idea of how the shot will look (exposure, WB, ect) before the shot is even taken, that should make jpeg shooting that much more successful.

allways wanted the nikon D850 = TO much

then seen the D810E the e version removed anti-aliasing filter

Then one better D810 this camera cost a lot back in the day and buy it used is really good price https://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product-archive/dslr-cameras/d810.html

36.3-megapixels with no optical low-pass filter i wanted a tad more MP then my fuji x-t3

in BKT Mode it will drain my battery in miniutes and i dont want that lug of a battery grip on my tripod for extra batteries

my best point and shoot camera = sony RX10 IV it dont get any better then this for a bridge camera a all in one camera i would never sale

D7500 Approx. 720 g ( 1 lb 9.4 oz ) with battery and memory

X-T2 weighs 837g with battery and a loaded battery back

You can just try to add a vertical grip for battery endurance

Have you thought of adding a power bank? The pic below is with my XS10 and a 20 aH PD bank but of course one can get smaller/lighter ones. A PD bank is easy to use, it's simply one wire connecting it (USB-C). The pic shows a normal C wire but i will be modifying it soon as i get my order going on Amazon. I'll be getting right angle USB-C magnetic plugs, they keep the wire flush and if it snags on anything, they will pull away without damaging anything.

I may also redo the support rig below the camera and make it shorter. All in all it's still lighter and smaller overall than my gripped D300, and a 20 aH bank will offer similar life to maybe 10 or 15 standard Fuji batteries, hard to complain there. For the record i set up the exact same kit on my XT30 and it didn't have the grip to hold the weight, it was way to hard on the fingers even with a grip extender, the XS10 isn't too bad.

The magnetic clips in case anybody was curious.

My X-T2 `s 3 batteries (I have the battery grip permanently installed) need to be

recharged every 3 to 4 weeks because the camera needs quite some power even

if not in use.

That does not happen on my X-T1 which I still have . I did not use this camera for more

than 2 months and the 2 batteries (also with battery grip) are still fully charged.
Yes, mine do as well. That's why people remove batteries if the camera will be not be used for extended periods.

Did you lose your settings? That's what the OP is saying. And that's what I'm saying did not happen to me. Never has happened, 7 Fuji bodies so far. Frankly, I've shot Nikon, Fuji, Sony and Panasonic in the last 20 years. Still shooting the latter 3. They get left alone for months at a time when I leave one place for another. They don't lose settings. If they did, I'd probably chuck them in the waste bin.

I´ve had enough of ML.

I´ve had the Fujifilm X-T2 since spring 2019 and while it´s a nice camera, I recently went back to DSLR and bought a used Nikon D7500 with a couple of lenses.
Is it vindication you seek? Or absolution?

No, I didn`t lose any settings so far.

whether or not you get sun stars have absolutely nothing to do with sensor format...

That´s right, but the only lenses capable of making pointy sunstars I personally am aiming for seem to be FF (Canon 16-35; Voigtlander; Zeiss).

The Fuji 16-50 is not bad at F22 (see below), but it´s only 24mm equiv.

I can't speak to the X-T2 but you made a good choice with the D7500 — rock-solid camera. I love mine, and I never thought I would own a DSLR, as I learned photography on mirrorless cameras. But the D7500 — it just works. I love the 3-D tracking AF — so simple and effective. There's no nonsense with this camera.

Did you consider the Nikon AF-P DX Nikkor 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR as an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens? Or does it not do sunstars well?

I agree, FF is really bulky, whether DSLR or ML. I´ve played with a friend´s Canon EOS R recently and it´s only marginally lighter than my D7500. With the EF-RF adapter and a 24-70/F4 attached it was really heavy and bulky, without offering much in terms of focal range.

Fuji should have given the X-H1 a (much) larger battery, since it has IBIS, a high-res EVF and a large body. That was the biggest mistake Fuji made with the X-H1. They´ll fix it with the X-H2, if there ever is one.

I´ve checked Ken Rockwell´s reviews on lenses for Nikon APS-C (he always provides information on the quality of sunstars) and got the Tokina 11-20. Couldn´t test it yet as the weather over here is pretty miserable (no sun).

I thought at one stage of going back to Nikon F (DX specifically), but it was the lens situation that put me off. Mediocre kit stuff and a few ok at best primes at a reasonable price, everything else range from too expensive for what they are (new DX lenses) to mega expensive full frame lenses, which is what they really want you to buy (and are now on the way out). None (or most) of the kit and affordable stuff is as good as similar Fujinons that are a bit more expensive, if that.

So I could pick up an ok DX body, and then prepare to cough up big, big money for lenses.

I´ve had enough of ML.

- After I picked up my Fujifilm X-T2 after a couple month of nun-usage (I don´t shoot in the winter) its battery was dead, all settings lost and time / date forgotten,
I keep a copy of all my camera settings using free Fujifilm X-Acquire software. Just in case

Yes, I downloaded that recently and made a backup. It’s a useful feature.
