Z 24-70 f/4 vs 2.8 - IQ / Sharpness?

I tested both on the Z6 - yes the f2.8 is sharper in the corners, but only in test shots with 100-200% .

In everyday shots it was not possible to see a difference - at the end the f2.8 was too heavy and due to the EVF a f2.8 is not needed anymore to get a bright viewfinder picture.

I scanned my pictures from the last 5 years and only a low percentage was shot at f2.8 with my 24-70f2.8 G . If I want to have shallow DOF I use my 85 Z f1.8 .
I looked at my images in a similar manner evaluating images. Part of what I found was I did not shoot lenses wide open because they were soft. Even primes needed to be stopped down. With the S lenses, I am willing to shoot them wide open. It opens up more creative options to shoot with an extremely shallow DOF - options that were not practical before these lenses.

The Z cameras and lenses provide an opportunity to think differently and maybe can open up a creative option.
yes , thats true - the whole micro focus adjusting is not necessary any more and the lenses are sharp wide open ( although I was always happy with the 85 f1.8G) But I found out, that at 70mm the difference in background blur is not that much between f2.8 and f4. If I play a little with the distances to object/subject and background I can achieve similar results and if I want to have real good background blur / shallow dof I use the Z 85 f1.8 or the 70-200 wide open.
