Merry Christmas. Happy you've got a sharp one.
I am still struggling, by the options of the F4 12-24 or Sigma 14-24/2.8.
I went from a 16-35 to the 12 and the extra width makes a lot of difference for me.. I suspect the 14 would have been fine and likely all the lenses are epic .. Kid (amateur) in a candy storeFrom the tests I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the sigma. That’s supposed to be ultra sharp as well. You will just miss out on the wide end (2mm) but in the overlapping ranges you should be good.Merry Christmas. Happy you've got a sharp one.

How does the 12mm end of 12-24GM compare to Laowa 12mm f2.8?I had the f4 before getting the GM, and to tell you the truth there’s not that much difference. I found the f4 to be as sharp as the GM.
I have the 16-35 f4 Zeiss and love it.. this lens is longer but doesn’t feel heavy like the 24-70.... since I got it, it’s not been off my camera.. partially it’s GAS and partially it’s just interesting to see how even the mundane pics seem to get an extra sparkle...I have been reading a bit. I have this old A mount Zeiss 16-35 which to my eyes are very sharp and very heavy. Later I bought (with a very high price tag around 11k) to 16-35 F4 to supplement my older DLSR. I used briefly Samyang 14/2.8 and was very surprised by its sharpness and high contrast. Of course no one is happy about their distortion.
The 12-24 GM came out as a distortion free ultrawide lens and...there is this Sigma 14-24 which some users swear it is much sharper.
I am very worried about the weight. As I am getting older a lighter weight lens is far more important than its optical quality. For a 6xx gm lens, the Sony 12-24/4 fits very well and, though different platform, the Nikon 14-24/2.8S, are other options.

Beg to differ with my copies: The GM is much sharper, especially towards the ends, than the G.I had the f4 before getting the GM, and to tell you the truth there’s not that much difference. I found the f4 to be as sharp as the GM.
Great lens, no doubt. But your photos except one or two most not taken at 12mm, so how 12mm is so critical?I went from a 16-35 to the 12 and the extra width makes a lot of difference for me.. If price is a concern then there is little point in looking at any GM lens TBH.... For me the extra 2mm is/was important as I couldn't quite capture the wide views I wanted to in landscape mode from where we now live... Again, this will be totally subjective and for me I am super happy and continue to leave this lens on the camera and look for reasons to use it.. there are cheaper alternatives for sure and 100 reasons not to buy and any lens in this rough category will be epic... sheesh my old Zeiss F4 16-35 was/is extraordinary so can't disagree with the logic but all said and done, this has been my goto lens for the last couple of months and no regrets... juxta the 200-600 purchase and selling the 100-400 and I regret it every day !Great lens, no doubt. I am still struggling, by the options of the F4 12-24 or Sigma 14-24/2.8.It cannot take regular filters and 100mm holder system is a big deal to many. In addition if you don't mind 2mm, then Sigma 14-24/2.8 Art indeed a much cheaper alternative and equally sharp.
Carelli,Excellent! Very tempting indeed. Love the light stars.
Cheers

Sorry to say, but while these images look really great at first glance, the HDR aura / motion blur, or whatever it is, on the first one does not do this great lens justice at all. Nevertheless, have fun with itCarelli,Excellent! Very tempting indeed. Love the light stars.

I'd like to say I am cooler on it now but I cannot leave the damn lens alone.. this morning I was out with the larks and am now plotting another sunrise and another sunset stage for the week ahead... its a fun lens all-be-it seems to like dust more than the others ...
Agree on motion blur, am rapidly discovering that using HDR to take any picture of anything moving sucks (birds in frame, bees antenna twitching, closeup cats fur breathing etc...... I love what HDR gives but also hate the imperfections... in the one below, I love the pic but I can't see past the leaf edges nowSorry to say, but while these images look really great at first glance, the HDR aura / motion blur, or whatever it is, on the first one does not do this great lens justice at all.
