Why is the lens hood for the 24-70 f4 so bad?

First day out with the z6 24-70 F4 S. Just taking random shots, learning the camera. I did notice the lens hood not "clicking" into place but paid no attn until I saw the pics. It must have moved as I was taking pics. Is it supposed to click in place??

Putting the hood on, you have to press the ribbed parts on the hood, 9 and 12:00 o'clock.

If you use 0 and 6 you make clicking harder, or even impossible.

What happens, you make the hood slightly oval (the right way), helping the notches (which apparently are at 0 and 6) over the humps.
Got it, and thank you for the response!
FWIW, I don't have to press or deform any part of the hood. It clicks in like any other hood I've used in the last 12 years - it's just more stiff so it takes a little more effort. I think it will loosen up a little over time.
Agreed.

Come on guys. You have to learn how to use your equipment! The 24-70 f4 lens hood definitely clicks into place. Very firmly and securely at that.

Mine is over two years old, used on a lens with perhaps 50,000 cycles. It looks new and it clicks like new.
