I want a D2X and I want it now!!!!!

After visiting this site for over a year and trying to find out
when Nikon will release its next generation of digital cameras I
was orgasmic the day the first pictures of the new D2H were posted
(from that stolen brochure). I find it baffeling that people on
here dont understand why we want a new camera and why the D100 with
its cheap N80 body doesnt suffice and why it doesnt make sense to
buy a D1X at this time (would you buy a G3 or a 486 computer now?).
For those of us die hard Nikonians who really want to enter the
digital age all this waiting is really killing us. Canon canon
canon, constant new cameras that are decent, esp. the 10D which I
use regularly to shoot weddings, its not my own, its my partners,
we've gone 90% digital but use exclusively Canon 10D's because
Nikon has not come out with anything new yet. I have the money in
my savings account Nikon, its yours, just please come out with that
D2X soon!!!! please!
--I am longing for a D2X level machine as well, but it seems like just the angst you are suffering would have been worth a couple a grand to you by now. It's lot's cheaper than therapy and prosac over a two year period, and you don't have to sit and listen to all those people complaining about silly things such as this. :-).

Hey, Is this thing on? Can anyone hear me back there?

but if you are clear in the head,
nobody will buy now a D100 it is 100% overpriced and it makes no
sharp pics. same with 5700.
I don't make this comment lightly. You are by far the most ignorant idiotic person I have ever seen on all the forums on this site.

Everything you say is blatantly false. Your lack of knowledge and arrogance defies belief.

you've got something growing out of your head, oh I think it's a *****.
it is a pity, I was a fan of Nikon for about 15-20 years, but what
we see now is sad and I#m unhappy.

If you already own a D100 or 5700 it is okay and you can have fun
with this cams for the next time, but if you are clear in the head,

You really don't own a camera, do you? You've made at least two absurdly inaccurate remearks so far in this thread that you can't know what you're talking about when it comes to digital cameras. A D100 100% over priced? You mean it should cost $700.00 US? It doesn't take sharp pics? Nonsense, I own the D100 as many others and just shake my head and laugh when I hear these old wives' tales. You get your information from old dpreview posts I'll bet. The soft pictures are old & inacurate information.

A quick review of your posts caries little useful information and lots of criticism. Why not buy a digital camera, gain some experience and contribute rather than criticize and tear down? Start out with a simple camera and develop your technique instead of arguing with statistics and press releases?

But you also don't back up your claims with anything but your own opinion. And as to "name calling", let's see from your post hear. If I go out and buy a D100 today, then I am not "clear headed". Hmmm, that means that at best I am befuddled, some might even say "an idiot". There is a phrase in the US, "pot calling the kettle black". The context here is that you have no problem name calling anyone who buys a D100 or a 5700 "not clear headed", again, at the very least "foolish", but you complain when someone says the same to you.

You are very one-sided, with absolutely no facts to back up any claim I have you make in this forum. I have challenged you in the past for facts, which you consistently ignore. In my mind that may not make you "an idiot", but it certainly does make you a rumor-monger, and some may even take that further.

As I have said before, and will say again, Sotare, you are a real piece of work.

I am waiting for the D2H and then the D2X.
My stable of D1H, D1X, and D100 will do me fine while I'm waiting.

Hopefully I will have a D2H by Christmas and the D2X and the 200-400mm VR in 2004.

So to those who must have more pixels now and can't wait, get what you must have.

I might even post my first picture taken with my D2H here.

A good place to post it, that's for sure! =)

This will show my ignorance: I didn't know that you were so renouned - I saw a picture of you (touting nikon) in a photomag! Congratulations on the success you have achieved!!!

In fact there was a guy on this forum about a year ago, who called people liars because they posted sharp pictures from their D100s. He argued, that because the D100 couldn't take sharp pictures, those sharp pictures couldn't possibly be from a D100, and people claiming so must be lying.

Eventually he mellowed as he got to know his D100 better, so there may still be hope for our Sotare too.

Apparently you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Do you even have a digital camera? Have you ever used a D100 or D1x, or a 1Ds or 10D. I seriously doubt it.
it is a pity, I was a fan of Nikon for about 15-20 years, but what

You don't seem to get it Sotare. Technology is all about leapfrogs. Nikon was way ahead of Canon from 1999-2002. Canon didn't even have a DSLR for 2 years after Nikon released the D1. Canon jumped the D1x in 2002 with the 1Ds. Now Canon have the tech lead over the D1x, but sooner or later, Nikon will jump them again. Then Canon with jump Nikon, etc etc etc. That's how the world works.
If you already own a D100 or 5700 it is okay and you can have fun

You are insane. There can be no other explanation. "No sharp pics"? Take a look around this forum Sotare and check out some of the tack-sharp pics posted by D100 users. You especially might want to search for posts by Yves.

I could not be happier with my D100. If it was stolen I would not hesitate to buy another one tomorrow. It is easily a match for the 10D in many, many ways, especially in Quality Control.
same with 5700.
What's wrong with the 5700. canon sure doesn't have an answer for it. Sony and Minolta are pretty equal. What's the problem?

Since you are one of the contributors to this forum who insist that size is the most important, I would suggest the following which is available today:

Hasselblad H1
Kodak DCS proback 645H
Extra lens and flash

All of this will get you the 16.8 megapizels you think is so important. Unfortunately you would need an IBM mainframe computer to process the images.

Oh yes, the above configuration costs about $20,000.00 at B and H. Seems Nikon might be a bargain?

Imagine how many threads and posts there will be on the D2x by the

2005!!!!!!!!! :( Geez... I hope not!!! :(((

LOL... fell off my chair on that one! I just sold my D1X after giving it a lot of thought and asking a lot of photographer friends. Of course, the situation is different for everyone... but for me, selling the D1X now for $3000 and saving that money for the "D2X" seemed to feel right. I'm using my D100 for now until I decide what to do (love that D100!). But... if there isn't going to be a "D2X" or it takes a year to come out or it costs too much... I can always buy a D2H.

I didn't read all 1,000 messages on this thread... geez... would take too long... LOL... but I would say that for many people thinking ahead about the D2H or "D2X"... that it is maybe they just want a hint of what's to come from Nikon or what's in development. Would it be asking too much for Nikon to just post a news release telling us that a "D2X" is in development and letting us know an approximate release date (even if it is 2005)?????? I sometimes feel like I've been left out in the cold.

Like a lot of people... I'm assumng that there will be a "D2X" and it will be like the D1X / D1H relationship... even the 1D / 1DS relationship. One for speed for all the action photographers and one for high resolution for the rest of us. I just would like to hear something from Nikon... soon. :)

Josh-

I agree 100% with the D100 build/quality statements. I said it when it came out, when the 10D came out, and I'll say it again. I got a lot of flack for it too. Do a search and see what kinds of problems people have had w/10D vs. D100, or how many actuations before breaking. You will see that the 10D beats the D100.

And I went to a 10D from a Nikon F100 system. I can't wait for the D2X. I couldn't wait, thats why I got stuck with a Canon!! Can't wait to swith back!!
If you found the Canon 10D does fine for what you shoot, the Nikon
D100 which was out first should suit you just as well.

The problem with the D100 as I stated is that it feels cheap. I use
F100 bodies, they feel well built and stong in your hands, the LCD,
the buttons and knobs, the grip, it all feels well built and
durable. Hold the D100 after that, use the 4 way switch on the
back, feel the cheap feeling sticky grip, use it, use the AF, none
of it feels worth it. Use a 10D, it feels solid and well built. It
works well, the AF is fast and good, the only problems: its a
Canon, and the focusing is sometimes not that sharp- major problem!
I dont want a D100, thats what Im saying. I know its out there, I
dont like it- capiche? (or however you spell it...)

I know where you coming from, Dude. A man wants what a man wants. Hold out and it'll happen. I wanted a Hasselblad years ago and all of the salesmen in the world couldn't sell me a Bronica, Mamiya, etc. So I bought a Hassy and never had to deal with regret.

Not to say the 10D is like my D1x, but I've set the D100 & the 10D down next to each other and played with both and I gotta say the D100 doesn't feel as well-built/substantial.
