In reviewing many images from a trip last year I realized several were identical copies, except for the file number. The copies were much further along the "roll" with the time identical to the first image. The SanDisk information was entered on Adobe Bridge.

Also, I saw that some images also had modified image times. I've only shot raw and never modified an image in the camera.

I've never heard of this kind of error and wonder if this could be a memory card glitch. Aside from taking the camera in for repair perhaps I should do a reset?

Any thoughts will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Have you used the camera since your trip last year?

Have you had any issues similar to the one you describe since your last trip?

It sounds like you are looking at the images on Bridge. I know it was a year ago, but do you remember doing any editing on the images where you might have duplicated an image?

Unless this is a repeatable error, sending your camera in for repair is probably going to be a waste of time.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I suspect this issue is a bit like taking your car into the dealer with a rattle that disappears the instant you enter the shop. No images were lost and my post was based more on curiosity and less on worry this is a symptom of impending disaster.

Virtually all the 700+ images were shot in high speed burst of 3 in the U1 setting, using Bob DiNatale's digital exposure method. The duplicates were in groups of 3 only. In trying to make sense of this I reread the section in Thom Hogan's book on the D7100 on memory card failures. None of his examples mention duplicates as errors but maybe shooting in bursts was a factor. In any event, I'd suggest not trying to shoot high speed bursts in a crowded jeep on safari.

Thanks again,

Arnold
