I need something for editing on my Macbook 15. I am not swayed by 4K at that viewing distance, but on my laptop I of course enjoy the retina scale. This would be just for editing D850 RAWs via C1. Color is critical.

Simply put, the choices totally overwhelm me. I had a 27" Apple Thunderbolt monitor for a while and I enjoyed that. But I'm sure there are comparable/better monitors at that pricepoint today. Any help would be appreciate. I'm ok with older monitors too. I'm trying to keep it under $500.

Any specific model advice? Thanks!

At the risk of stating what may be obvious to you, the most important contributor to color accuracy is hardware-based calibration and profiling the monitor. Do you have, or intend to purchase, a suitable device?

After that, some options:

* if you could swing $599, maybe a BenQ SW2700PT;

* or for $579, a Dell UP2716D; or

* if price is really important and you'd sacrifice some gamut, maybe go $295 for an Asus PA278QV.

Last but not least: the vast majority of 1440 pixel vertical resolution monitors, and I assume what you're looking for, are 2560 x 1440 pixels. That is QHD a/k/a 2.5K, not 2K. There are true 2K monitors (2048 pixels wide), but they tend to be rare and expensive. Yes, I know that some people refer to QHD as 2K, but they're wrong.
