Beautiful! I have a granddaughter exactly that age and my son is begging me to show up in Houston with my gear and shoot here. But I have resisted because I gave up on all people shooting about a year ago.

I've taken a lot of shots like this and am always obsessed with wanting more DOF. I would like to peep the raw on this and see what is in and out of focus. And I don't see your data....

I stared at this a while. This is the kind of think I would never think of, see or do.

I really like this....

Like that you did not over-punch on this shot. Nice.

You portrait guys are amazing.

I bet that guy has trouble meeting any girls his age or younger. He is so unattractive, and rock stars are so shy.

Love it. I need to crop more on my beach shots.

Thanks, I meant to title it beggar dog :) my dad has a soft spot for the dog and I keep telling him he has IBD and should only eat his food - it doesn’t work!

Love that shot. What year?
Late 80s.
What the Hell is a Plaubel Makina 67?
I have this image in my mind of a young and heroic Jim leaning over a big box with a blanket over his head taking the shot after a night of dreaming about Ansel Adams and just after the gear had been unpacked off of the back of a mule by two of his dedicated and loyal Sherpa assistants....
The Makina was actually quite a small camera for the negative size, especially when folded up.

Thanks Greg, though I’m not really a portrait guy, I mostly shoot pretty boring (I joke) technical stuff. I’ve just started doing portraits for fun.

And yes, Ben is your typical recluse type character :)

Thanks Greg.

Christmas Birch Tree from CostCo - Has built-in LED lights!

Lit by the LEDs only - f/16 to get clean starbursts from each LED

Shot at night, exposed for the trunk

Ilford PanF with some contrast added

Dodging around the tree to clean-up any background light spill.

I like both and especially the color of the waterfall shot - the greens and oranges are well saturated.

As for the softness you describe for the leaf pic, I think that if your goal was a biology textbook, than yes, a bit sharper would be better. However, I don't think that is your goal. As an image to document late Autumn, it is plenty sharp. The not-sharp-as-a-tack-ness of the leaf structure evokes for me the sense of decay that the leaf is undergoing.

You've captured "today, but not tomorrow" where a sharper image would have captured "now and forevermore, trapped in amber".

Lastly, I hope it is ok for a MF wannabe to appreciate images here. Maybe in a year or two I'll be posting some.
