Switzerland with a Plaubel Makina 67 and Tri-X.
what a shot, the lighting is other wordly, and the tonality in black/white really works. Love it.

Luckily the basement can be used as a (very very small) studio.

No models, only family members. But for the right price, dear daughter was willing to pose.

Played a bit with the radial filter in the second picture. Unsure wether I like the effect or not. To my taste, I see far too much radial filter used by photogaphers who take family pictures.

Am I allowed to disagree ?

I rather cheekily downloaded you jpg and ran it through Silver Efex Pro. I too thought that the subtle colours were a significant component, but to my surprise I liked the conversion even more. Let me know if you object to my conversion and I will remove it

That's a nice subtle bw conversion, I like it -- I also use silver efex. Feel free to edit my images whenever you like :)

Edited to taste in Silver Efex Pro

Thanks! Dad secretly feeding the dog, even after repetitively saying that it makes him sick!

Amazing. My favorite Jim Kasson image so far and easily could have been included in one of the great Ansel Adams books.

edit: meant as a comment to the Cloudy Sunset image Jim posted (ended up in wrong place - sorry about that).

Thanks. I've never printed it. I don't think anyone has seen it but the followers of this thread.

Jim

Those are such great shots. I need to take my 120 into the woods and try that. Shoot something on the ground if there is a stream of light coming through. That was a magical image. Fantastic.

Chris, that is art photography and not your usual thing. Love it. How did you do that? You never shoot at F16. How did you expose that and get the lighting like that? Is this also a lot of post-processing art work? The bright lights and branches would be blown out against the black darkness in a normal single shot.

Spill the beans. What did you do.

Love it.

Love that shot. What year? What the Hell is a Plaubel Makina 67?

I have this image in my mind of a young and heroic Jim leaning over a big box with a blanket over his head taking the shot after a night of dreaming about Ansel Adams and just after the gear had been unpacked off of the back of a mule by two of his dedicated and loyal Sherpa assistants....

Lucky you! Great shot.

Awesome. Great scene. Great shot. Great sky. Great sun peaking through.

Is it my imagination or is that horizon line just a tiny bit off? Go in there on the raw and check that horizon line with a nice grid....
