Interesting

I have been going over many lenses these last 4 months and doing all kinds of tests.

Voigtlander, Leica, Minolta, Fuji Canon Nikon etc

Fuji include the 27 f2.8, 35mm f2, 50 f2, and have the 23mm f2 fixed on Fuji x 100v and x100f.

and to my surprise my favorite lens which really is phenomenal for rendition, separation, black and white images with a tremendous amount of character, sharpness etc is the f2 50mm Summicron v4

t seems to be magical on the Fuji xt 20

If anyone would like to share their favorite maybe it is something to think about adding to a lens line up

Thanks

For me the favorite is the Fuji 35mm F1.4. Love that lens.

Hi Lou, I checked out your 500px site but could not get EXIF on photos, could you post or link some of these magical results? I like magical photos. Thanks.

Normal 35mm 1.4

Wide 14mm 2.8...

Tele/portraits? Eh... don't really have a fave here...because Fuji doesn't make a 105mm equiv here, and that's what I prefer.

Thank you

I think I did not add them when uploading sorry

I appreciate very much the kind words

90/2 is my favourite, it's a bit specialized, though. Now I have big expectations for the 50/1, I'll see. 🙂

XF 50-140

Superb in every way. Yes, it’s large-ish but it now has a permanent home in my camera bag.

For me, and for reasons other than lens attributes like bokeh or sharpness which are overrated, it is the 35mm F2. I find it to be a perfect fit for Fuji cameras and it works perfectly for my style of photography.

Use to be the 35mm f1.4 but lately, the 16-55 has been my fav..useful focal range and a step up from the 18-55.

Ditto! The 35f1.4 is close behind the 90f2 - there is something special about it!

Different lenses have different purposes and IQ but I am most happy when I have the 27mm Pancake on my X-E3. It is so small and The quality of the pictures are totally acceptable for me. What a nice little package.

Good old simple all rounder, my 23mm F2

It's wide, step closer and it's not, step back and it is... etc :)

I've been shooting going on almost 50 years now and have always considered my lenses and cameras to be tools and so the tool which I use the most is inevitably my favorite. I own a lot cameras and a bunch of lenses but the lens which I use the most week in and week out is the Fuji XC16-50.

I don't mind the autofocus. Fast enough on my XT2. The noice it makes I find minimal compared to my old Canon lenses.

But the imperfect perfections and vibe this lens has Is simply amazing. Super sharp when I need it to be and mystic other times.

Simply all I want in a lens. The only lens I really need. Way better than the XF23mmf2

Hmmm unless you can define why it's better - which btw will be subjective to you- which is as it should be, it's just opinion stated as fact.

I prefer a 35mm equivalent and can say why, not just say better and 'mystical'

Two different tools giving two different perspectives

Like saying tea is better than cola but not why

Clearly the 18-135. Versatile, weather sealed, robust, great stabilization.

All time favourite, no matter the mount, Zelss Planar 50/2, M version. I used it on Sony APC-S, Sony FF, Fuji-X, Olympus M4/3. I simply love it. Fuji 50/2 comes second on Fujis, on my personal faves.

Like I said, I love the imperfections. How it renders photos and the colours it gives. Where other lenses blur/smoothes out the edges, this one does it in a way I love. It has more of a 3D vibe than the 23mmf2. Ive used the 23mmf2 nearly everyday for 2 years on many travels and for work. It is a great lens but since I got the 35mm Ive used the 23mm jyst a few times. I regret I did not get it earlier.

I own Canon, Leitz and Olympus 35mm but prefer the Fuji.

It's light, looks good and cheap for what you get. Can't really understand all the negativity this lens has got over the years but everyone have different needs.

I've used it for landscape, hiking, street, portraits, astro and product photography.

Sincerely. Johan
