After thoroughly testing out this, my 3rd 10D body, I'm totally happy with its auto focusing abilities. I apparently stirred up quite a ruckus in an earlier post concerning this issue but I'm glad I did so that hopefully other owners will realize that they're not really going blind and/or crazy concerning this AF thing.

This body, when used with ANY of my 3 prime lenses (24, 50 and 85) nail it on auto focus, even using the center AF zone, believe it or not!

Here's a good example of what I expect from a $1500 camera http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=1846577

This was shot with my 24mm f2.8 handheld at 100 ISO letting the 10D do the focusing.

Nah, it's not the camera. You just finally learned how to use it. ;)

Honest to God, I saw somebody say that recently, and I think it was in a thread referring to YOU.

The third time really IS the charm, it seems.

Glad you finally got a good one.

What would've been interesting would be side-by-side comparisons of those three bodies. Completely eliminating user error, of course.

What are the odds of two bad ones in a row?

0.005 x 0.005 = 1 in 40,000 ?

So, only one person per month should be getting two bad ones in a row, right?

Actually, it is a little soft on the right side, very near the edge. I wonder why? Was this on a angle or was the ground inclining to the left and you had the lens wide open?

Not knocking the pic/lens/cam/photog, just curious as to the oddity.

It looks to me like the leaves/etc on the right side of the image are further away than the rest of the leaves/etc in the image.

That may be what you're seeing.

I probably just had the camera canted a bit in relation to the ground. It was shot around f5.6. I just let the camera center focus.

Looks very good to me. One question: Did you replace it at the dealer or did you go through the Canon Warranty Service proceedure?

My local Best Buy here in Asheville, NC was good and patient enough with me to swap it out twice for me. Good Guys!

I saw your thread. I had similar issues and stirred up quite a ruckus as well. One guy even went so far as to say he thought my post was a spoof on the idiiots complaining about focus. I really doubt anyone that does not believe that many of the bodies have a AF issue have tested and studied the results from multiple bodies. My story is the same as yours. I exchanged 2 bodies and my third is right on. The first 2 had FF.

Your experience along with many others reporting here sure shows the benefit of shopping local and at reputable dealers.

Nice, I'm tempted to trade mine in, or at least send it for calibration. I assume that shot is 100% unretouched.
