Z6 Update Issues

So I ordered an XQD card reader to update my Z6 which is still at V1.0. I did not check the order well so got a card reader with USB C instead of a standard USB output and my laptop does not have a USB-C input.

It connects to my phone so I copy/pasted the .bin file to my XQD connected to the phone. When I connect it to my camera instead of "update" I get something like "Delete Update Files".

My question is will it be resolved if:

1. I get a USB C female to connect to USB laptop?

2. Does the update have to be incremental?

Thank You!

Thank You all For your Responses!!!

Got an adapter and connected it.

It is updated to 3.10 now. Apparently you can't copy / paste the .bin file on an android device.

Resolved !!

Yes and no

"Delete Update Files"

Does this mean you're already at that version? Are you sure you copied the right FW? Perhaps lens vs body?

I clicked the wrong box on Amazon too.

Just get the adapter.

Hello!

Maybe it was just user error on your behalf - I can (and did) copy from an Android device with no problem whatsoever.

Just saying, because the postulation of absolutes (which after all are just a singular and personal view) can be misleading.

Best,

Alex

I mean you can copy paste stuff on off an android device.

However the update .bin does not get recognised by Z6 if i copy/paste it on an android device. Had to format the card and then paste it to the root dir. on a laptop as advised. it worked.

Hello!

What I am trying to say is, that copying the bin file from my Android device to the card worked flawlessly for updating.

The only computer step needed in between was to get from the exe to the bin file - in case you are wondering, it did this on the road with remote access to the computer and remote file transfer to my smartphone and from there onto the card. Otherwise I would see no advantage of not just plugging the card reader into the computer in the first place.

Best,

Alex

PS: at that time I was upgrading from 2.01 - maybe that explains why you got a different experience
