Welcome all to the Sunday Cat! thread, brought to you every week, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK first started the thread on 23rd September, 2007. Management of the thread over the years has been turned over successively to John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J (with an assist by StanTsui ) and since September 2016, long time lurker, me.

Socially Distanced Kitties of the Week!

Amos and Sophie, when you can't wear a mask or keep six feet apart, put up a barrier and stay safe! :-D

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your picture and stories of your feline companions with us. Come one, come all; all cats and cameras welcome. Add your favourite cat shot to the collection. No time limits, taken any time, any place, any camera." Or any era, digital, film, even phones or tablets!

Posting time for the thread is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, I may sometimes start the thread earlier, later, or even on time (!) to accommodate my schedule. If I am late, feel free to grab the reins and start the next thread. A PM letting me know that you have would be appreciated.

Last week's purrs, #666

Last week seemed to be about celebrating the quiet moments of kitty life. The rambunctious moments though can be difficult to capture. Especially when they come during the dark of night when one is trying to sleep. :) Maybe they'll offer us opportunities when we can best capture them.

The Best Camera is the one that you have on your Hands.

I'll assume Alex and Thomas are in the order listed, top and bottom. Alex (top photo) seems to have a look that says "not that darn camera again!" It looks like he was caught in stride as he climbed the tree. Thomas seems to have his attention split, between the camera (and I suppose the shutter sound of the E-3) and the sound of something in the other direction with his ears turned back like that. The background is blurring nicely on the first one. Both look like they could use a little more contrast but the noise doesn't look bad at all for shooting the E-3 at 800. I have to admit that I've been spoiled by the high ISO capability of the E-M1.1 and now the E-M1.2, so when I use the E-3 I just keep the ISO low. I still like the E-3 a lot though and try to use it regularly.

Yes they are in that order, as for the E3 , the day was very overcast, and that’s the reason I was shooting in high iso, 800 in the e3 is as high as I like to go, also the lens is slow, but not sure why the pics lack contrast......maybe dirty or something, the camera was in storage for so long that even my 12-60 begun with problems ........but anyway thanks for your comente

If the camera and lens have been sitting around then maybe the lens, or filter if you use one, is cloudy. For some reason I was having problems with Hoya EVO Antistatic filters clouding. I went back to using ordinary Hoya HMC types and haven't had a problem since.

Before he jumped from the box!

Mini-Me, it fits but I don't think it's deep enough. :)
Mini-Me, it fits but I don't think it's deep enough. :)

The shutter speed was too slow to stop him, and the somewhat infamous 12-50 too slow as well. But sometimes that's all the time they're going to give you. ;-)

Nice ........you should try a bigger box and see if he fits

Interestingly, they seem to like to get into boxes that look too small. I do have a big (B&H!) box that was out for a time but nobody ever climbed into it. However, practically the moment I put out the smaller boxes both Mini-Me and Palmer seemed to want to try them out for size. :-D

I have a cat, Tom, who didn't inherit the box gene. He's mildly interested in large boxes or stacks of boxes. But only to flip them on their side or topple the stack.
