I am looking for the the best software for archiving and view my pics.
I own a s100 and I heard that cam4you is a good product.
I accept any opininon about it and other ones

I suggest consideration of ThumbsPlus from Cerious software. You can download a trial from http://www.cerious.com

For cataloging & archiving I consider it essential that the the software allow the thumbnails to reside on my C: drive, and the images themselves on any number of other drives; e.g. CD's.

I've looked, but havn't found another package that does this. If someone knows of one, I'd like to hear about it.

Gary,

Zoom Browser seems to be able to do this...See my response to your early comment on this:

I would agree with Gary. I tried a number of packages, mostly from the list at shortcourses http://www.shortcourses.com/book03/07.htm and I also tried fotostation http://www.fotostation.com . In then end it came down to a choice between fotostation and thumbs plus. Thumbs plus was about 1/2 the price so I registered it.

I must admit I did not try Cam4you so I can't comment.

Cam4You is not a software for archiving and viewing the pics, but it is a great tool for easily download the pics from the camera. You should try it.

use Microsoft's Picture It. I just installed it a few days ago. I takes up over
185 megs of space. It automatically upgrades your IE browser to version

IE 5.5 without even letting you know this. After being careful to upgrade my version of IE5.01 and being careful NOT to go to IE5.5. Microsoft
screws up my browser with a photo imager made for kids.

When I bought my Epson 3000Z (last july), it came with Sierra Imaging's "Image Expert". Now that I have my D30, I'm still using it to catalog and batch process my pictures (mainly resize).

For each pictures, you can provide keywords and later search using those words; you can also search, media location (for removable media) etc. You also have access to EXIF infos. (Just make sure to close Image Expert before downloading your pictures with Zoom browser).

Some nice gadget included: screen saver, audio annotation, web creator, print layout (not as good as Qimage) but nice, stich program, batch resize, rename, rotate.

You can take a guide tour and download a demo at

I'm using Cumulus 5.0.9 by Canto ( http://www.canto.com ) and have been quite pleased. Extremely flexible and powerful database tool with the expected archive features... plus includes ability to maintain thumbnails and picture meta data on local drive with the archived images on removable media (eg, CDs). 5.0.9 includes support for display of EXIF data, however I haven't been able to get this to work yet

Canto is offering the software at 50% off through Christmas ($49.95).

I highly recommend this over other apps I've tried.

The best of the best is a little program that does it all for FREE. Irfanview. Get it at http://www.irfanview.com . Photo manipulation and adjustment, as well as a thumbnail viewer and cataloger.

How long have you been using it? How complicated can you get with the html export? I have written a very simple perl script to do basic stuff for me, however now that I bought a new digital camera, the media is growing quickly... I want to be able to export with a more complicated look and feel. Something like: http://www.logi.net/photos/10/

Can this program do this? Or any others that can?
