Got a 5MP 2/3" sensor and a sweet 28 - 90mm f/2.0-2.4 Leica lens, with an aperture ring. Too bad it's a Panasonic and the manual focus ring is apparently directly proprotional fly-by-wire, not mechanical and I'd like to see this type of camera (rangefinder) with interchangeable lenses, but that's propably too much to ask... Looks very nice anyway and not too expensive ($700 MSRP).

What do you think?

Looks kind of retro to me... but I do like it. I have always liked things that look like they do what you expect them to.

For instance, FRS radios (Family Radio Service - I think the UK equivalent is PMR 466. Sorry rest of the world - dunno what they are called in your country) Anyway... they always look like toys. My Drakes look like real radios, and believe it or not it was a selling point for me.

The 828 is really cool looking, but it is a modernization of what a camera is, and I guess I just have to get used to it.

PS: If you are nuts about retro, check out these olf LED watches: http://www.led-watch.com/

Thanks for the heads-up. This one slipped by me, so will have to keep an eye on the Brit site more.

Had been pretty much set on the 828, but wanted to see if Olympus responds with an upgrade to the E-20. Having shot with M4s and 3s for years, this one looks promising as well. Love the lens and the over-all design looks very photog friendly.

That camera seems to have a huge LCD too. Looks like at least 2". And Jamie: jeah, those LED watches looked kinda cool, too. :)

I don't know why this baby isn't getting more attention. This is the kind of camera that should have some (especially the old-timers around here) wetting their pants!

Great looking camera otherwise.

May be a fall back to camera if the 828 is too big and heavy for all day carrying.
