I just watched a couple of videos about the R5 and R6.

Nothing more to add really. For me, gear has hit a ceiling some time ago (X-T2 /RX1R) when what I had was very difficult to top.

Secretly I had been drooling over the Leica Q2, but since I bought the X-PRO3, it is a bit like Karl Lagerfeld once said: "If you already have a Bentley, a Rolls Royce ...." (you get the idea??) so the Q2 currently off my radar.

Read some hate-threads about the X-PRO3 on fujirumors and find that this whole self-propelling circus more than tedious.

So here I am in 2020 with an X-T3 and the super-fabulous X-PRO3 wanting for nothing else. Took some pics of our dog having a play last Saturday and pondered the eternal question: would I wish for an A9? A D5 maybe? Or a 1Ds-something????

Maybe a lack of photographic opportunities at the moment although we are open down here. Everywhere.

Used wide tracking AF (the lazy mode!!) and was ok with the results. And never thought that an A9 would have been sooooouuuuu-muuuuuch-beeeettttter ...

In hindsight I should have used much slower shutter speeds as they were quite wild, which doesn't show at all in these images.

Need to improve my dog shooting skills clearly, but it wasn't the camera and the rear screen (was used here!!).

All excitement now gone to the Canon camp? And how boring is that??

Same thing with me. Although I am very curious and a bit excited (to find out) about all these new camera gear coming out soon, is really not turning me ON like it used to. I do get excited to see how certain features keep getting better and better, but nothing to drool about and is just another camera.

Me too, I’m completely happy with my XT1 and other gear, for now. I have made ZERO income since January. Pitiful, and that might be another reason why I don’t feel too inclined to waste any money on camera gear right now.

What I’ve been into recently is into power tools 👍 and purchased a DeWalt miter saw with a stand, a Top of the line Skilsaw circular saw, a Milwaukee hole saw set, an air compressor with nail gun and a LOT of wood and have been working on lots of projects and repairs at home. It has been fascinating so far. I ain’t gonna let this virus get me down 😁

At some point good is good enough. It reminds me of the early days of PCs when you drooled over the new 80386 and then you wanted 486 and then a Pentium etc. as there were real noticeable improvements every time. Nowadays PCs are fast enough and I could not even tell you what is in my laptop or desktop. I feel the same way about TV resolutions in that I personally don’t see the point of going over 4K, in fact the drawbacks are now putting me off. Maybe that’s a good thing as the consumerism risks straining our resources ever more. Having said that I did buy the X-T4 for IBIS.....

I felt the same about the X-Pro2, and since the X-Pro3 came out, I feel it even more about the X-Pro2.

So these new cameras and lenses from Canon are not for you.

Not for me also.

But they will be used by lots of people, and those lenses are very interesting for wildlife shooters.

I've owned some very nice cameras in my time, all of which I sold while searching for the system that best suits me. The only one I still have left -besides my current Fuji gear is my old Nikon D700.

Every six months or so, I pick it up, fire off a few frames, and am immediately reminded why I switched. The thing's massive!

And to think that I used to heft that bulk around all day shooting weddings with a 24-70 and a speedlight attached, no less!! :-)

I sympathize, I think, if I understood you. It reads to me like someone with an artistic bent being unfulfilled. The latest hardware I think you know really isn't the answer. Don't let that distract you from all the good you have in hand.

I've felt that way for some 5-6 months now. But I remind myself periodically thoughts of this nature are luxuries, for not having to worry - long or short term - about things like food, housing, or health. It could always be worse, especially with this new world order we're all now facing. Chin up! :)

Then you are a luck man. Alive, healthy and happy with two great cameras.

The shooting opportunities will come.

I'm sure you'll get another opportunity. :-D

My wife is so bored she started bugging our horses. She has been catching the bitchy mare (my horse) bossing around the TB gelding that recently retired from the track (at 10 ) quite a long career at that level. He was always an alpha on the track - coming down the stretch he would literally stare horses down and pass them.

But the mare - she has his number. He might stand up for a few seconds but it's clear he never raced a filly. But, make no mistake, she is the herd boss. That's why she is my riding horse.

But given the tropical heat, humidity, wet season and raging Covid-19 explosion (FL now owns the US single day new case record) don't get out much right now.

I am happy as a clam with my H1 and Pro3. My wife is using the H1. IBIS is good for her in that it is one less thing for her to have to worry with (shutter speed). I have three Auto ISO settings for her in case she wants to photography moving objects, still objects or macro (90 mm with a 26 mm extension tube). She is struggling now to learn C1 or should I say she is bugging the snot out of me to help her master C1. She also getting tired of asking if this or that image is "good" to my response of "well what do YOU think, its your vision not mine." There are times I could see the fire in her eyes as she wants a simple answer not another question only to have me tell her that she won't grow with someone telling her what is good or not good.

For me the Pro3 is about the only camera I want. It serves me well. I don't do birds or have any need for a long telly or have any need for a zoom. I find my 90 f2 is more than sufficient for equestrienne sports that I do. Although I do have the 55-200 that my wife uses and I bought her the 18-55 to use ( I have no use for mid range zooms) to make her life easier since I'm the one that changes the lenses for her most of the time so I guess it is to make my life easier.

The "excitement" on camera fora when a new camera is releases reminds me of the "excitement" among teenaged boys with the release of a new "Playboy." It soon wanes because of the short attention span as they start to salivate waiting for the next month's issue.
It might be awhile before we see that excitement here - until the H2 I expect - since there have been three big releases in the past 6 months. The real "gear heads" probably are headed in to something akin to an episode of "postpartum depression" until a new camera comes along. :-D

Sounds like you have a fabulous relationship with your wife. And your horse?
The wife if you ignore the fact she is driving me bonkers - we get along well. She's trying to learn photography. At least she doesn't complain about the fact I have been dragging cameras around for 45 years any longer like she did before she discovered photography. My horse. I am a big fan of mares. They are a pain the the butt and you have to deal with them but they are honest. An alpha mare is bold and once you bond with one would gallop through a wall of fire if you asked. Geldings are easier to get along with but not as bold. But mares sure have an opinion - like any female about just about everything.
You like campfires somewhere in the wild? A beer, the horse getting nervous, can sense the tension growing as again there will be yet another avocado and shitake mushroom salad with a sauce Antoine from NYC, but born in Pittsburgh recommended for those special moments...
