I have a low usage Epson Pro 3800 that has started printing only blank pages, no colours at all, even on the print tests initiated from the printer, so this has nothing to do with the computer setup.

The printer was not used for a few months.

All of the printer cartridges, as well as the maintenance cartridge have been replaced.

This seems to have something to do with the ink feed, on all channels, as the maintenance cartridge remains clear, even after head cleaning.

Paper feed and head movement take place as if the printer was fully functional.

Any ideas ?

Is it possible for a repair at a reasonable cost or should I just scrap it ?

make a phone call to the local(-ish) Epson repair place (or authorized repair center) and ask. I'd guess they've seen most of what the 38xx can throw and they have a decent idea as to root cause. May cost you an hour of their time

The 3800 though may not be worth it.

Yes, thanks, will do, although I suspect that local Epson repair won't be up to much.

I may have to replace this printer, although I am not sure that I print enough to justify that.

Locally the Canon Pro 1000 is about half the price of an Epson P800, so I guess that I may be heading that way.

Is it feeding the paper correctly and then simply printing blank or is it feeding and then pushing the paper through? That leads one down two different pathways though it depends how much time/energy you want to devote to an essentially obsolete printer (I still own a functioning one).

It feeds correctly, and then goes through the whole printing process, it does not simply feed the blank page through.

I am stumped.
