Escaped Amsterdam for a week to enjoy the nature at the other side of the country.

Nice photos; thank you for sharing them!

If I'm honest I don't like the toning you've applied; but that is obviously a conscious decision on your part, and as the photographer/artist that's entirely your decision to make :)

Perhaps it's because I have a deep appreciation for simple compositions that focus the viewer's eyes on the main subject, but I found this one the most compelling of all your images. I would, however, recommend you experiment with a vertical image that concentrates on the center of this image. You might also try boosting the saturation a little bit.

I can see what you are doing with the compositions - central and symmetrical. No harm in breaking the rules if the subject warrants it.

What part of the Netherlands is it? Once the ferries are running again (if????) I want to come over via Ijmuiden and ride my Honda to a more beautiful part of the Netherlands than I normally see (I live near Newcastle) (Have you any parts of the country with any hills by the way?)

Mike

(Sorry I have just seen that you have put the location in the title)

Thanks for the feedback, I’m experimenting with making / adjusting some LR presets to my taste. Get your point there!

It’s in the east of the Netherlands, 2 hr drive from Amsterdam. Drenthe is a province in the Netherlands. The Veluwe is a national park which is also nice to visit. We have some bumps in the road called hills in the deep south of The Netherlands nearby Maastricht region.

A different cut isn’t an bad idea at all! Thanks

I like the image of the tree. However I'm not comfortable with the greenish processing. Looks little bit like old film. Just my $0.02

Good work! I really like the post-processing. It gives a rough edge and a historical flavor that fits well with Drenthe. After all, 50 years ago people still lived in 'plaggenhutten' (sod huts) on the heath. Life was hard there, people were poor.

The first images seem to be from an open air museum. In the past I have been in the Elllert and Brammert museum (sod huts) but I can't remember they had farmhouses like this.

Thank you, Drenthe has a long and interesting history. Every time I come there there’s more to learn. It wasn’t taken in an open air museum, just a farm I crossed while hiking.

Unbelievable that a group of these buildings still exists there. It is a good place to start an open air museum in the future :-)
