Camcorder Recommendation for Vlog?

Hello I am interested in starting a Vlog and am wondering what camcorder you would recommend?

I am going to be filming indoors mostly and will be using a tripod.

My budget is ideally $500 or less but willing to spend up to $1k.

I would like to shoot in 4k ideally.

Please let me know what you recommend thank you.

I agree totally.A friend has one of these and I am aiming to get one. A great all round camcorder with brilliant inbuilt stabilisation.

Why you want a camcorder? they have tiny sensors, they are large and heavy, how you gonna hold that thing in one hand?? The best would be camera like Nikon Z50, which is designed for vloggers. You can also choose GX85. Both will be better than camcorders for vlogging.

I figured a camcorder would be good for video since that is what it is designed to do. I also said I would be using a tripod. I don't plan on holding it much by hand.

I don't know anything about video but what are the downsides of a smaller sensor for video? Is it just worse low light performance and dynamic range?

Yes, and modern mirrorless cameras have video arguably better than camcorders.

The z50 with the 16-50 weighs 18.69 ounces and the ax53 weighs 22.4. doesn't seem to be a gigantic difference. The z-50 had a swing down screen which won't work if your trying too vlog with the camera on a tripod. The gx85 has no mic input.

The ax53 has a swing out screen, mic input and the zoom can be remote controlled from a phone app.

OP: with respect to quality of output you might follow the link and take a look at some of those videos. Most of which were shot with a camcorder. Decide for yourself. That YouTubers videos have millions of views. Pick a camera that gets out of your way and focus on content.
