It will be quite a while before I will own a car with a Apple key fob replacement, I suspect. 256GB for storage could be useful. iCloud Drive now supports folders with iOS 13.4. I have not used the feature yet.

I dont use any apple service besides music. The 256gb version will be my next phone, unless they re introduce touch ID on the 12 (which is noted to be in the future), at which point I will go with that and 512gb of storage.

Currently, the newer iPhones from iPhone Xs and above have a dual nanoSIM/eSIM. iPhone 8 and SE 2 won't have the feature, being lower cost devices. it may or may not be a consideration.

I don't even know what that means so probably won't have a big impact.

Allowing eSIM in phones means people might not need to carry two phones with them like we do now with the SE which supports only NanoSIM. Some people have their personal and business phone numbers but don't want to take two devices with them.

The main camera seems to be a mix of XR and iphone 11 features. It seems to have the new camera APP but eHDR for video is only available up to 4k30p (eHDR avail at 4k60p in iphone11). Also no night mode although the Next Gen Smart HDR is from the iphone 11. I wonder if the processor speed is slightly scaled back due to size.

I am somewhat disappointed as I was expecting the main camera from the iPhone 11.

I imagine if it had the camera of the 11, it would damn near be an 11 for 40% of the price. Probably not a good way to sell 11s.

While not terribly exciting, at $399 it puts them in the hands of a whole new market segment. It seems to be basically a lot of the 11s guts in an 8 body. If I still had my 8 I would consider upgrading at this price for no other reason than want.

The previous iPhone SE brought over all of the camera features from the existing iPhone at that time. Also, the iPhone 11 still has the Wide angle to distinguish it it from the SE

Well, unless the iphone 12 pro has fingerprint sensor returning I will be getting 2 iphone se 2020s this fall. At least I can keep my touch ID for a few more years until they come up with something better than the crappy face detection system they have now.

sim and esim is awesome too. One phone for my work and my personal line.

Reachability was first introduced in 2014 with the iPhone 6. I tried Reachability on a demo iPhone X but could not get used to it. I could not grasp the Home bar. I tried it also on the Touch ID iPhones maybe iPhone 7/8 models and still wasn't sure of the feature. Now that iPhone SE 2020 is a 4.7" model, maybe Reachability is better now?

Reachability also doesn't work from a lock screen from what I've read?

iPhone SE 2020 will have dual SIM. No current iPhone models are single SIM phones, now with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus discontinued.

I am waiting to see if iOS 14 supports the 4" SE, which is rumoured.

Have had Apple phones since the 4, have a 7 now and love it but want to future proof so will move to the new SE. After getting a credit, I'll pay about $300 with tax. For an iPhone with the newest chip that can be updated for the next few years, not a bad deal.

We will need to wait for their full camera review but they have posted some comparisons. The HDR has been greatly improved over the iPhone 8 but the image detail is not good and they have reached out to Apple to determine if they have a bad camera module. The will be posting a more thorough review of the camera results very soon.

I don't have an iPhone 8 to compare but the image detail seems much better than the original SE.

This is zoomed to 100% in Lightroom:

Really glad the touchID is back, not a huge fan of faceID. For anyone who preordered their phone and is receiving it today, I would love to hear your initial thoughts on the phone

I have no problem with touch id but the new phone doesn't have a proper home button like the original SE. I'm sure I'll get used to it but at the moment its the most annoying thing about the new phone.

The original Touch ID was introduced with iPhone 5s and came with iPhone 6 and SE. Touch ID v2 came with iPhone 6s, 7, 8 and now SE 2020. I am sure we'll get used to it, those of us still on the 6, and SE upgrading to the new SE 2020.
