...but they may be wrong...Also I sent an email for all of you that won't this wonderful camera (except me, I love the one I have now) and they emailed me saying that it is only 4mp not 10 or 12 or 14...Who really knows you just have to wait and see...Melissa

one of my photo store buddys was talking to a guy from nikon training team....from what he was told..the D2X is supposed to be full frame and in the 10 mp range.... hummmm

CEOs tend to have a few common traits:

1) Closed mouth about unannounced developments related to their business.
2) Closed mouth about R&D efforts at their business.
3) Very aware of the legal ramifications of their statements.

For those reasons I doubt that this story holds much water.

Additionally, I don't even believe the D2x will be full frame. It takes a long time to nail the processes to make a chip that big with acceptable error rates. I think Nikon is looking to keep the price of the D2x near the D1H. Keeping the price that low would be difficult to impossible with a full frame camera. Kodak did it by cutting every corner except chip size--not an option for Nikon in their flagship body. Subdividing photosites is the way to get higher pixel counts with minimal cost and headache. Smaller chips is the way to keep discard rates down and costs under control.

I'm looking for an LBCAST chip the same size as the D2H, with each photosite divided into 2 or 4. This also protects sales of the DX line. Remember that companies make far more money on lenses and accessories than on bodies.

With Canon having one and Kodak having one, Nikon is just the next one...
Would be great when the price would be the same as the D2H ;-)

If it IS 12MP or more (not bother about whether it is FF or not to be honest) and IS in the same ballpark as the D2H - I am buying, so hope it will have the res I need, I am trying to avoid buying medium format....

If there is a rumor that the D2H is high megapixel, then why does Nikon and even Phil's announcement all say 4.1 effective mps??? Is Nikon trying to fool everyone? and has this been done by other camera companies in the passed?...Melissa

There is no "rumor" that the D2H is high megapixel, unless someone is just not paying attention. The D2H has been announced, has been used, has been seen, images have been seen, lot's of folks have had "hands on", etc, ad nauseaum.

Why do you seem to think there is any "high megapixel" D2H rumor? Don't confuse the D2H with the "as yet to be confirmed at all" D2X speculation.

No, those bodies are built as though the sensor was full frame. In fact I think I remember around the time of the D2h announcement there were some people intrigued by the fact that after a whole 'nother development cycle away from the F5, the D2h still had a full sized mirror. It is an interesting point.

This guy's post has me not sure of myself. Am I making this up?
