Pouch for FL-LM3

Now that I got the Olympus OM-D E-m5 mark III which has the FL-LM3 clip-on flash, I am starting to think about carry options for it. With the older FL-LM1 (E-pm2) and FL-LM2 (E-m5 mark I, E-m1 mark I), it was small enough that I would keep it on the camera full time. But the FL-LM3 is somewhat taller, and I suspect I'm not going to want to keep it on the camera at all times.

So I'm looking for a small pouch that I can put the flash in that has an attachment that I can hook it to whatever neck strap I'm currently using on the E-m5 mark III and/or fit in my camera bag. With battery pouches, I sometimes put them on the strap, sometimes just throw them into the camera bag of holding, and sometimes just put them in a pants pocket.

I tried one of the battery pouches I have floating around (Ruggard 8 AA battery pouch), but it wasn't long enough (7mm/3") or deep enough (3mm/1.25") to hold the flash. I imagine battery pouches made for the larger DSLR batteries might work, but I don't have any floating around the house.
Any suggestions for something large enough to hold the FL-LM3 flash, but not too large to get in the way? Extra points if it has a secure place to keep the hotshoe cover when the flash is mounted?

When I got my E-M1 mk2 the little FL-3 flash came in the box and the contents included a tiny pouch for the flash......I am surprised they didn't include such a pouch with the E-M5mk3???

There is a pouch, but it doesn't attach to the camera strap. And since it is a drawstring bag, and that does not use hook & loop fasteners (i.e. velcro), I would worry that the flash would come out of the pouch as I walk around.

What I want is an option when I go out with just the camera and no camera bag, to attach it to the camera strap. And when I do go with a camera bag, that I'm able to find it quickly (the black pouch kind of blends in).

Ah!

Just a thought ~ as the flash & it's pouch are so small, I think perhaps some DIY might work?

Get a velcro cable tie, cut it to length to attach the pouch to the camera bag strap. Then stitch it to the flash pouch to create a mini velcro strap on pouch.

I hope that makes sense :)

PS I am relying on memory as my flash & pouch are in the box still......I may have execute my idea for the same reason you speak about it!

I have two of those flashes and both came with a pouch.

The pouch has a fold-over cover that closes with Velcro. Also, the pouch has a loop in it for attaching to a strap.

It looks like Olympus may have been cheaper with the E-m5 mark III (or else the pouch fell out of the box after I opened it). The pouch I have is a drawstring bag with no vector or loop.

AFAIK the lenses have drawstring bags!

The small flash pouch is tiny like the flash.........when I initially saw it in the box I could not initially work out what it was for

I recommend the JJC lens pouch JN-S

http://www.jjc.cc/index.php/Product/product_info/id/161

which is often listed on eBay and Amazon as "JJC small" or "JJC pancake" lens pouch.

The F-LM3 flash fits in it nicely and the case is more protective ans secure than the original case that came with the F-LM3. The shape of it means that it sits nicely below a lens in my camera bag.

The carabiner that came with it was very cheap and flimsy and was immediately junked but the attachment loop on the case is very sturdy.

Thanks also from me as I note they do other sizes that seem ideal for holding the MC-14 & MC-20 teleconvertors :)

While my wife is a great seamstress, I decided to see what I could find off the shelf rather than having her make a case.

I think the JJC battery pouch may be the right size. So I ordered it. In theory with Amazon Prime, it should be here tomorrow:
I suspect it may be too tight, but we will see.
I just got the JJC DSLR Battery and Memory Card Holder Pouch with 2 battery pockets and one memory card pocket. The FL-LM3 fits in it perfectly. It is a tight squeeze, but it fits fine. I can use the second battery pouch to hold a BLS-50 battery. 4 AA batteries will also fit in that pouch.

With the size of the FL-LM3, a SD card in a battery case will not fit in the memory card pocket. Several SD cards without the plastic case will fit, as will the hot-shoe cover.

The other JJC pouch will be arriving Thursday will offer a smaller bag for just the flash itself. It is a question, whether I want a pouch to hold both the flash and a battery, or just the flash itself. I suspect if I'm going out with the camera bag, I probably will use the smaller pouch, but if I'm going out with just the camera and no bag, I will go for this bag to combine flash and battery.

Having the memory card pouch to hold the hot-shoe cover will be useful (at least until I lose the hotshoe cover or leave it at home).
