Astonishingly good video w/ Em1iii !

Isn't it amazing what you can do with a tool outside of the specs sheet :)

I've watched this video 4 times over the last week now and it still engages my attention the entire time. One of the best short videos I have seen.

Hey,
Yes, it was shot with EM1X with the 12-100 F4 Pro.

Amazing film! One of the best I've seen of this kind!

There are some differences, especially with the AF speed, but I would not say that it is very much different; it's improved in terms of AF speed and tracking reliability on the EM1X, but the E-M1 MKII (which I own) is very much (still today) a very, very capable camera.

"It's all about the story, not the gear!"

thanx 4 reply Filipe. what i meant to say was, vs, the eM1III?

I believe it was shot with the Em1iii. If it wasn’t, given the verbiage on YouTube, the video itself which never hints it was shot with another camera, and the comments below the video which would have given the creator the opportunity to correct any misconceptions, it would be extremely misleading and very deceiving if a different camera was actually used.

Nope all shot using the M1 MKIII!

Nice Patagonia advert - clothes that work in every weather :-)

I was wrong Just found out it was shot with the M1X
Well if that's the case, the video was extremely misleading. I find that really reprehensible. There was nothing in the video itself, the description of the video by the shooter, or the many comments following the video where the author could have come out and said it wasn't the EM1iii. Most people would have rightly assumed it was actually shot with the EM1iii.

Fool me once...I won't be watching his videos again regardless of how well done they are.

It’s a video about the EM1 MKiii, that does not mean it has to be filmed with the camera that is being reviewed. It is demonstrating what the camera can do and provides images shot with the EM1 MKiii. There is also an expanded behind the scenes video.

Bruce, I'll respectfully disagree for the following reasons:

* The video is entitled "Break Free - My Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III Short Film (4K)"- Now come on now, almost anyone would easily come to the conclusion it was shot with the E-M1Miii as other posters did...including myself.

* Nowhere in the video, including the end credits, did it make the claim the video was not shot with the OM-D E-M1Miii. Nowhere. I've seen many videos like this for other equipment and most will clearly state at the end what camera was used for the video. This one didn't. Sorry, that IS very misleading.

* IMO there was absolutely no point to this video if it wasn't shot with the camera prominently displayed in the title. I learned nothing, zero, from this video relative to the camera under discussion. Nothing. Seeing a guy struggling through snow with the camera when its shot with another camera tells me nothing about the durability of the captioned camera nor its photographic/video capabilities.

* In fact I was so misled by this video, that I don't even trust the few stills at the very end were actually shot with the captioned camera. Why? Because they didn't clearly state what camera was used for those stills. Again, there was more than ample opportunity in the YouTube descriptive to say what camera was used to shoot the video. There wasn't. I make sure that I clearly state what camera & lens I use for any video I shoot and post on Youtube.

I'm sorry, this video was and is misleading. That's certainly how it impacts me at this point.

The creator is quite open on his channel that it was filmed on an E-M1X, and I don't think it's deceptive given that the video would have been completely identical if filmed on an E-M1iii. It would detract from the story to have added a frame saying it was filmed with the X.

I agree. It is misleading. It should have been mentioned that it wasn't shot on the M1 lll.

This way, they could have used an Arri or Red as well...

Why they didn't use the M1 lll for the video is beyond me, because the video quality of all 3 camera's (mark all, lll, and 1x) is about the same.

He probably only had access to the one E-M1iii so he couldn't shoot video with it and have it be in the film at the same time. Shouldn't really matter though, there aren't any video changes between the E-M1X/E-M5iii/E-M1iii.
