I just went to turn my camera on Abbas the screen is blank. Latest firmware, tried the OVF/EVF option, pulled the battery, it’s charged, nothing.

Help

try a different battery and/or take the battery out for upwards of 30 minutes and then try.

Were you recently near water or spray?

One thing you can try that will determine if it is a hardware issue is to do the following.

Start the camera while holding down the "Disp/Back" button.

This should turn the LCD on regardless of any configuration settings.

If it doesn't come on, then I think it is a hardware issue.

Hope all goes well,

Paul

Not sure if this is what you meant with "EVF/OVF option", but did you try pressing on the View Mode button next to the EVF?

Just confirming that the battery is fully charged ? What happens when you press the shutter button ? Do you hear the clack ?

Battery is fully charged. Shutter button doesn't do anything.

You haven't indicated if you used Paul's suggestion. If you haven't you should try it. If the screen doesn't light up, it is a pretty sure indication that the camera has suffered infant mortality and it needs to be sent back.

Good luck with this. I know it is a pain to have a brand new camera fail so quickly. Then again better now while it is under full warranty. If you purchased it from a reputable dealer, I would ask them to exchange it for a new one.
